Subject: FAQ 2.1 :: New Restrictions :: Wurrzag is Dead

By Kaine82, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Gen Con and Worlds just got that much more interesting...

On the contrary, all other orc decks except Wurrzag are dead. You can still go Wurzzag + Vomit, but you can't have neutral cards to compensate for orc's worst economy in game if you want to have Horde (without it most orc units die instantly against DE, orcs don't have good units for 3+ cost). Also the ability to burn a zone other way than through battlefield has been taken away with Unique for Snotling Invasion (this card is now useless, one copy doesn't accomplish anything).

As an orc player since Core Set I don't see any other way now than Wurrzag.

Which is sad...

I'm surprised nothing is being done about brayherd, now that's a really horrible card in the said deck. 3 turn wins..

@Virgo: What other Orc decks were popular before this FAQ besides Wurrzag? You say all others are dead now. I say they have been dead for a while and are still now :) I think i don't quite get your other points. Imho Wurrzag can be played with or without neutral cards. And Orc economy must be the worst of the game as they are the Orcs!

As for Snotling Invasion: This card is dead now, full agree. Uniqe goes way too far. This has been discussed here already ages ago. And i dont want it dead. It is such a great card and mechanic...

Also End Times on the list makes no sense to me. There will still be lots of ET decks, because they don't care for the restricted list.

I played orc control that could hit hard (was 15 at the European Championships where you were 13 with Wurrzag )

Of course Wurrzag can be player without one Muster it was usually played with (Wurrzag helps economy because it plays tactics for free) I was using Innovation recently with good results in an orc deck

Only deck that has been nerfed is Dwarf End Times with Ranger.

This is actually the sad part. Dwarven End Times was innovative, fun to play, strong but not imbalanced and it got killed here while other ET decks just laugh about it. So, you did play without Wurrzag at Euro, that is nice. Dont you think you still can play this now? Innovation is out of course if you want to use the Horde :(

Yeah, I refused to play Shaman as long as I could but it looks like now I won't have a choice...

Without the Innovation (Horde can't go, even without Cults it seems impossible to burn Dark Elf with Clan Moulder's Elite only) my deck's economy will suffer and without Snotling Invasion it will be extremely difficult to burn even 2 zones against for example High Elf. So it looks like Wurrzag is the only answer :/

Wurrzag ( Battle for the Old World , 41) and The Unending Horde ( Rising Dawn , 6) are staples of a very popular Orc control deck that has risen to prominence in the past few months. These restrictions are intended to create variety for this particular deck and force players to choose how they want the deck to play.

Great way to achieve something opposite to what was intended.

Orcs are not dead. They will continue to destroy only will you need a little more to get creative when building a deck. It can combo into Urguck by Power of Chaos?

@gr4ffi - You are right when it comes to ET but restriction better than if she was not at all :)
And decks on ET, they will continue to destroy :D :D

I know I titled this "Wurrzag is Dead", but I really meant the Wurrzag + Troll Vomit + The Unending Horde decks. We called those Wurrzag decks here for short.

Sorry I didn't post this clarification sooner. I'd been avoiding spoilers for Cataclysm leading up to our sealed event ( which was awesome with 8 players! )

Kaine, with both Wurrzag and Unending Horde on restrictions and snotlings dead Wurrzag is even more obvious choice than before (look at orc cataclysm cards, only usable are those tactics best played via Wurrzag's action).

I'm agreeing with you ;)
