Rare crit situation: Blinded pilot X2

By snoobic, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi Forum pros :) . I tried searching for this but came up empty.

In a recent game, we had a situation come up where a ship was dealt two critical blows simultaneously. Both draws were blinded pilot.

There was debate around how the card triggers and how to appropriately resolve the two different instances of it. Is it:

a) The instances stack.

  • The next time the ship attacks, it does not roll dice (flip 1st card).
  • The following time the ship attacks, it again does not roll dice (flip 2nd card).

b) Both cards are triggered by the same "next" attack and resolve together simultaneously.

  • The next time the ship attacks, it does not roll dice (flip both cards).

Personally, when I read the card I don't see anything in the text that would imply a) and assume b) to be true... but it was a fairly intensive debate.

Thoughts?

Idk...you got me on that one....what about shuffle the deck ;-)

If I was playing in a friendly game, I'd probably play it as losing two attacks, just for the sake of playing the game. If it was a tournament, I'd argue that many of the critical damage cards end up with no special effect-- for example, losing secondary weapons on a ship with no secondary weapons.

I'd go with B as you fulfill the requirement of both cards at the same time....basically the second Blinded Pilot crit is wasted.

I'd go with B. You make an attack, but you skip the step of rolling dice. Once you start the Attack process, both cards are triggered before you ever get to the skipped step.

Agreed. Both cards say "the next attack," not "the next attack and maybe another attack after the next attack," so in principle... blind me once, don't get blinded again. :)

Cool, at least I'll know how to address this issue if it ever comes up in one of my games.
