Repeated Pages - Seriously?

By Corradus, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So, I finally managed to get my copy of the Core Book, and for the most part I was very impressed with it.

Until I got to the repeated pages in the back fifth of the book, beginning, it looks like with the planetary report on Bespin. Maybe five or six pages, I haven't looked closely at them.

Man oh man, seriously?

Come on guys, you can do better than that.

Are you talking about repeating parts of other content or actually having multiple of the same page? I haven't seen anything like that in my book and I've gone through every part of it except for the premade adventure.

Must have been a printer issue. Where did you get your book? Something like this would probably happen to a batch of books. I wonder if we will be other reports of this.

Have you looked closely enough to rule out that your eyes weren't that keen :-D

I've not noticed anything like that and I've read the book twice from front to back.

Nope, it's not my imagination. Pages 353-363 are printed twice in the corebook, the firs time, they're printed precisely where they're supposed to be numerically and the second time they're reprinted in the Law and Society section after page 368.

This ain't a tough mistake to spot, most of those pages are planetary profiles and they're black, so a cursory examination of the edge of the book would see something was wrong.

The Beta had an issue with some copies repeating a whole signature series and omitting the actual one. If memory serves, a call or email to FFG customer service got new copies sent to the afflicted. Maybe try that?

Looks like you've wound up with a misprint. I went and checked my own copy and found no such duplication of pages.

Not in my book. Just checked twice and I'd have noticed when reading it twice too. You should contact FFG and ask for a replacement. I think something went wrong with your copy *:-)

Printing errors aren't unheard of. I'm sure FFG can hook you up with a replacement.

What's that sound? Oh, it's the sound of every person reading this thread and frantically checking their book in case they missed something... then a giant sigh of relief (or a loud curse depending on the result.)

Yeah, you're the odd man out. My two copies were just fine.

Easy to spot on a one-to-one evaluation. Probably just a smidge harder when the printing press is spitting out thousands of copies at a time. The up side is that it's an easy fix - just contact the seller and they'll hook you up.

I'm struggling to decide if you're actually interested in remedying this problem or just want to complain about it.

In the event of the former, contact FFG. They are excellent about correcting errors.

Accidents happen.

I had this problem with mongooses Conan rpg, just take it back to the shop, they will replace it, if you bought it online call them they will sort the problem out if they are reputable. I the case of Conan they never asked for the book back they just sent me a second copy.

Looks like you got a rare copy there...

:)

Bonus so long as no pages are missing!

Some of us check BEFORE purchase!

I think my book might be faulty too.

I've looked through all of it carefully and a can't find a single picture of Carrie Fisher in the slave girl outfit.

Does anyone else have that problem?

:)

Having just got I mine and read through I thought I'd double check. No double pages and no Carrie Fisher. I feel hard done by.

Well played, good sir, well played.

Carrie Fisher Salve girl outfit will come in Age of Rebellion, just a whole chapter on it, with each of the FFG artists taking their own crack at it, and at the very end a simple gear stat line for it.

Interestingly, the slave girl outfit will provide more Defense than Boba Fett's battle armor.

other than duplicate pages, are any pages missing? Like, are those repeat pages in there in leiu of the pages that are supposed to be in that spot?

If not, then you're probably good with the copy you have unless it really bugs you.

.... Chainmail bikini? Say it ain't so....

 *looking anyway*

Given the size of the book, what's the likelihood that someone would spot something like a duplicate page buried near the back of the book in a reasonable amount of time with it in the store before purchase?

Ah yes, I forgot about that new functionality that Amazon installed recently where they let you inspect your book before you order it. Silly me!
