Minions

Just so I understand Minion rules correctly..:

If I have three Strormtroopers, such as in the Beginner Adventure, they as a group, have a blaster skill of [yellow][yellow][green] but only a single attack, correct? Not three shots, one for each trooper?

How does this jive with a PC wielding dual weapons, who gets an extra attack? It seems that minions have severely limited firepower. So does that mean multiple minion groups for a serious threat?

Maybe I missed this in the rulebook, but how many can make up a minion group? as many as I like? (Thayt could make a 20 man minion unit of stromtroopers pretty nasty)

Opinions?

One shot per group.

Dual weapon Minions? I suppose so, but I think that would be better thematically for a rival.

Minions are usually either used for fights where there isn't a ton at stake, the PCs are in some position of disadvantage already, or in combination with at least one Rival. A GM you can decide that minions are in any size group that you want (although four seems to typically be used as the most minions in any particular encounter). In Long Arm of the Hutt, there is at one point a potential to fight 3 minion groups of 4 alongside a Rival.

Yes each minion group acts as a single character but you can decide how they are grouped. 4 does seem to be the standard, but more or less would work too.

I would say 6 is the max minion group size. It don't believe the rulebook says this but since 5 is the max skill rank you can have then I would infer that a 6 minion group would be the max.

Since each minion group is like a single character I would build encounters with that in mind. Creating an encounter with a single minion group will be like creating an encounter with a single adversary. Group them based on the how tough you want them to be. For example, if you want adversaries with YYG dice pools then have groups of three minions with 3 in the appropriate characteristic.

Also, if you want an easier encounter you could use ungrouped minions so each would get an attack, but since they aren't grouped they wouldn't get any proficiency dice and would be rolling all greens.
