This deck is designed for solo play against Heirs of Numenor, and the Against the Shadow Cycle. I think it will probably do quite well against other quests, but I've not tested it against any. It has defeated all of these quests.

Starting threat is 24. Ideally, you want a Gondorian Shield and/or Light of Valinor in your opening hand. Boromir is a fantastic defender with the shield, and even better with Arwen in play.

The heroes can quest well against normal quest stages (3 willpower on Glorfinder and 4 on Eowyn), Battles (3 attack on Glorfindel and Boromir) and Sieges (get a shield on boromir).

For taking down the big enemies, Glorfindel and Boromir can handle most of them, with Rivendell Blade giving them the edge of the big bads.

A lot of the rest of the deck is utility to cancel nasty effects, manage threat, and provide combat tricks.

Elfhelm is very good against cards such as Local Trouble and Poisoned Councils.

I'd recommend trying this deck out, it's great fun to play.

Any thoughts of suggestions?

Just played through all three of the Khazadum quests with this deck, and it annihilated them. Boromir with that shield really is the man. And he digs real fast with those abandoned tools.

sounds like a interesting one. should try.....

How the heck does it beat Cair Andros? Seems like this deck would fail against that quest. But otherwise its looks like a coold deck cant wait to try

Cair Andros is hard, but the key is getting an early shield and light. Getting lots of use from Boromir, and as many uses out of Glorfindel as possible (Light, UC).

The really hard hitting enemies get feinted, then double-teamed by Boromir/Glorfindel (ideally with at least one Blade).

Arwen helps boromir be an even better defender.

Basically you'll use boromirs readying ability A LOT, so you need to manage your threat as well as possible.

Try to quest through the battlefields as quickly as possible, to reduce the length of the quest. In general you'll want to concentrate on The Citadel, then the Banks, then The Approach. Breakthrough at the citadel is a Siege, which is possibly the decks weakest quest type. The banks is willpower, so Glorfindel+Eowyn can handle this ok, but you want to miss the extra encounter card if you can. Breakthrough at the approach is the easiest of the "battleground" quest stages.

You want to try and keep that staging area as empty as possible. Hasty Stroke should be held back for the really nasty shadow effects, and A test of Will for the likes of The Masters Malice.

I've also experimented with swapping out Eowyn for Dwalin against Cair Andros, which works well, but in general I prefer to keep the starting line-up.

Its definitely a challenging quest, but that makes victory sweeter, doesn't it?

Wanted to revive this thread in order to see if anybody has lists for 2 player/handed decks for HON+AS series. I would love to play these quests w/ a single set of decks for the pure enjoyment of it, if such a desire can be met...which I'm not so sure.

Sorry to have high-jacked this thread, but I'd love to see if anybody has accomplished such a feat to date. Heck, if another person could find a complement to the OP decks, that would be grand as well.

I regret to report that my request has been confirmed as impossible by the higher ups. The HON/AS quests are so insanely difficult that one has to build a deck per each quest. Sad but true, fellow travelers. Hate to see my dream squashed, but there you have it. Still if anyone want to suggest a deck to accompany the OP's for HON, feel free. Onward through the fog, my friends

Not sure where you're getting that info, but my Aragorn(Lo)/Glorifindel(S)/Boromir(T) beats every HoNAS quest reliably except for Morgul Vale.

Glad to know that, Mr. BT. Care to post the deck and any additional notes? In addition, we would be looking for a partner deck as well. I mostly play either w/ another person or two handed solo.

The current version of the deck is posted at the bottom of this thread:

Boromir is so useful because he can always be ready to defend. When I first posted the thread and got the suggestions, we didn't have access to Gondorian Shield which lets Boromir defend for 4 time and again. (Add in Arwen, Song of Wisdom and Burning Brand and he basically shuts down the opposing offense. Of course his price is that your threat spirals in the early turns - which is where Loragorn comes in. And I don't think Glorifindel needs an explanation.

Lastly, I play purely solo so I don't have a suggestion for a partner deck, but there are plenty of complementary deck pairs out there.

Yes, thanks for the thread reference. It was interesting to see all the different permutations of the deck. Am thinking about finding a way to pair it w/ another which should keep me busy for a while. Thanks again BT.
