Hey guys

I'm preparing to take my group through their first EotE adventure in a few weeks, and was thinking on how to explain the new dice, symbols and the core mechanic in an engaging, yet clear way. I'm the only one with the rulebook, and none of them had access to the Beta. So, I made this pdf to help me explain it all to them.

It's more a presentation than a pdf to send your players. I plan to talk through it (like a powerpoint presentation) on my big screen TV with my players sitting comfortably on the couches, answering questions as they occur.

Nice work, however as per RAW Triumph and Despair do not cancel each other. The success/failure aspects can be canceled as per normal success/failure but the special effect cannot.

Having looked more closely I find I had misread page 11 and hadn't paid enough attention of page 13. Still great work though.

I am gonna use this on my dropbox file for Star Wars, and definitely show it to my players/prospective players. Seriously, this is both great looking and a nice explanation of the very basic mechanics. If you got more coming, keep it going!

The part you've struck through is correct. You can have both special Triumph and Despair results on the same roll.

Excellent! Just in time. Any feedback from a live session, pass it on. My first is still 4 weeks away.

A minor niggle I noticed is that he labels for triumph and despair should be closer to their symbols. Pg13 I think. Just be clear in the description that the labels don't belong to the success and failure symbols just below them.

If you don't mind I am going to post this link on other message boards for people having trouble getting into the game. I haven't seen it yet (I can't seem to open it on my iPad) but from the feedback in this thread it sounds like a great introduction.

So I've made a small update.

Pg 1: I've added my name and those of these forums, and a "no copyright infringement intended" line.

Pg 13: I moved the labels for despair and triumph closer to their symbols and better explain how the failures and successes contained within those symbols are cancelled by other success and failures as normal.

Pg 14: Fixed a typo. ("...pistol you skill..." to "...pistol your skill...")

I like how on page 15 when you replaced the two ability dice with the proficiency dice, the two ability dice are now over there on the side. Nice touch, that.

Thank you for the great resource. I will be sending this out to my players as we are about to start an epic campaign. One small criticism though. The wording of step two on pg 15 about ability dice and proficiency dice is a bit confusing.

You have: "STEP 2 THEN REMOVE THE SMALLER OF THE 2 NUMBERS OF GREEN ABILITY DICE
AND REPLACE WITH YELLOW PROFICIENCY DICE."

Wouldn't it be more advantageous for a new player to learn the proper term instead of trying to decipher this? It would be a simple translation; "The smaller of the 2 numbers upgrades that number of green ability dice into yellow proficiency dice." That way when the players actually learns to rules proper either through book study or play they understand the rules in terms as the game defines them.
