What did the updated FAQ not cover

By jedi moose, in X-Wing

I'm sure there are a lot of little/big issues that we were waiting for clarification on. Which ones did you expect that were not addressed.

For me the biggest one is Han Solo. Does his ability allow you to re-roll the Luke/Gunner attack? I know the general consensus is that it does, but I was really looking forward to ending the debate once and for all. Did I miss something?

What were you hoping to see in the faq?

Why would you not be able to? Perform a primary weapon attack seems pretty clear to me.

Han: When attacking, you may reroll all of your dice. If you choose to do so, you must re-roll as many dice as possible.

The only one I can think of that they didn't cover directly is the Damaged Cockpit + Veteran Insticts question. Are "treat as" modifiers a base, or are they immutable?

I've been harping on it elsewhere in relation to some of the new rulings, but I REALLY would have liked to see a clear explanation about exactly when you activate secondary weapons, and what the scope is for them.

I agree with you. I think it works just fine. I think that Han Solo is arguably the best pilot in the galaxy. If his ability was that he dodges any and all primary weapon attacks, I would say "Well he is Han Solo, so deal with it". For that matter I think Han, Wedge and Soontir should be PS12 as a result of their sheer awesomeness.

But I've seen and had a few debates about Han's ability. Some argue that Han is no longer attacking but Luke/Gunner is, even though it is with the primary weapon, therefore Han's ability doesn't work on them. I'm not looking to start the debate again. Just wishing that it had been addressed

Well next time they throw a hissy fit, just tell them that the rule book clarifies "you" as the currently activated ship and Hans abilitiy says "you may reroll..."

Lol wow really? I know when you get down to things it would make sense that someone else is firing the guns other than Han when luke/gunner kicks in, but if you want to take that view then can the Falcon shoot if it doesn't have any gunners equipped? Like seriously the game is far more abstract than that. The pilot of the Falcon is not the one shooting the turrets so Han's reroll doesn't make any sense if you want to take it to a level of realistic sensibility.

Yes you can use Han Solos re-roll with gunner. You just have to read how the card and the rules work. Think about this. You have a target lock and a focus. When do you have to use them if you were say Chewbacca with gunner. What about Marksman? Why would Han Solo's re-roll be any different.

All great points. And I've heard them and used them before. But some will still argue differently. Those people are wrong in my opinion and in all of yours. And according to the rules they are wrong when you take all the facts into consideration. But they will still insist that Han's re-roll doesn't work with the gunner unless FFG specifically addresses it.

I think it was you nimbdabew (went back and found your post, which is what triggered this whole thread btw) who was at a tounament and the TO wouldn't allow the re-roll of the Gunner. You explained it to the TO and everyone there and tried to reason with them, but were unsuccessful in convincing them. That stinks! A simple line in the faq would have prevented that from happening again.

Q: Does Han Solo's ability allow you to re-roll the Luke/Gunner attack?

A:Yes

Done. Finished. No one can ever argue about it or use "fluff" logic on it again. Not that big of a deal but just one thing that i would have liked to see in the faq.
