More ink friendly and legible character sheet

By Split Light, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was wondering if anybody had made a more ink friendly character sheet. For some reason game developers always feel the need to put backgrounds and colors on character sheets, when often a simpler version is preferred. I cringed a bit when I saw the PDF. The current sheet is almost damp from all the ink when it comes off my printer.

On a similar note, I have extremely poor vision and the small white writing over darker backgrounds is very hard to read. I can barely make out the attribute names on the sheet. if there's one with standard Black on white that would also be awesome.

I checked the resource threads and didn't find anything along these lines (of course I am mostly blind so may have missed it.) I can certainly create a sheet myself, but if there's already something available I'd rather not waste the resources.

Many thanks all

There is one I found, but I forgot where I found it. Black and white, simple and clean.

edit - I saved it and put it in my dropbox for you. My apologies to the original creator, but I completely forgot where I obtained it from. Otherwise I would be linking to your site.

Thanks, that looks pretty good. Much easier to read. Thanks also to the mystery creator.

I've given up on character sheets. Because this game uses a system of incremental advancement, my character changes literally every play session, so I'd have a print a new sheet every time we got together (unless I wanted to erase and rewrite stuff onto one in pencil, which I really don't).

Now I just print a little stat block, which I can put on a card or a piece of paper or whatever. I mean, ultimately, what do we really need character sheets for anyway?

To mop up the pizza grease, Cheetos particles, Mountain Dew drops, and save for posterity of course. ;)

Seriously, I have become more and more a fan of fillable PDF character sheets. Right now, I have a shared dropbox folder that all of my players from this game can use. We all have access to everyone's sheet regardless of if they are at the table or not. I have access when planning my adventures, and the ship sheet can be shared as needed.

Slowly but surely I am being dragged into the new world of laptop gaming, but I will never use a dice roller on a regular basis. You will have to rip those plastic bones from my cold dead hands!

There's not a lot of erasing that goes on. You gain stuff rather than gaining/losing stuff. So, you can record the changes in ink and later print a new sheet out with the updated information.

Or, do what I do. Players don't need to keep the sheet in front of them neat and clean, but need to email me an updated version of their character every few game sessions. That way I, as GM, can see how they're changing over time.

We have forums where we post all that stuff, along with the obligation chart, tracking the group's wealth and gear, ship modifications, etc. Forums are handy for that sort of thing.

I'd love to see an app that would act as your character sheet for each session. You could have yours and create an ad hoc connection for your group to share sheets. You can't edit them but, at least at the table, you could view your group's skills and the GM could see them as well. Tap somewhere on your sheet to change stats.

Most people in my group have ipads so that would be a great bonus.

Too bad I have no skill in coding. :(

Good sheet in that second post, more functional layout than the official sheet. Though not perfect and since I'm a stickler for detail... "magnatude" is not how it is spelled. :)

I decided to make my own ink-friendly, legible, functional character sheet. I've got a good start but I have a question for those that like traditional pen & paper. Take a look at what I have so far. What stat block would you like to see at the bottom? Weapons and Armor? Talents? There's likely only room for one of those with the other being relegated to the back.

Appreciate the feedback.

I think Weapons and armor. I find for talents it's best to just print off my own separate sheet for the tree. Weapons and Armor stats need to be easy to bring up on the fly.

I would also go weapons and armor. I would probably need that reference the most, so having it on the front would be helpful.
