What planet should my wife's character be from?

By canudig, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Ok folks, here's a doozy for ya. My wife wants her character to have lived a very normal suburbanesque life before setting of on adventuret. What planet could she be from? I thought maybe Alderran (maybe she was on vacation when the Death Star visited), but wanted to know if anyone else had any alternative ideas.

Thanks in advance!

Naboo, while not "suburban" per se is a non-Core planet that's certainly civilized.

There's also Eriadu, which is also a rather modern world, and just as much a "Core World" in spite of being on the Outer Rim. Just skim through the planet descriptions in Chapter 10 under each band of the galaxy for more suggestions.

And if it comes down to it... just make up a planet. Maybe it's a small, out-of-the-way planet that doesn't see a lot of intergalactic traffic, but it's otherwise on par with the usual galactic standard of living.

Browsing Wikipedia is a good way to find worlds that might have the right feel.

A few that come to mind for me, though, are Naboo, Chandrila, and Brentaal.

While Alderaan really is kind of space Earth, there are other planets where you can pass a suburban life off. Parts of Naboo, Corellia would probably fly. You could probably stretch it, it isn't "our suburbia" but there are probably parts of Coruscant and Nar Shadaa that would feel suburbany (in comparison to the rest of the planet). Dantooine can have a little more rural feel between some known settlements (at least from what I remember on SWG servers... *shrug*)

There are thousands (possibly hundreds of thousands) of worlds inhabited in the Star Wars universe. Let her make one up.

Just make up a planet. I'm not sure why everybody is always so attached to the worlds featured in the movies. The galaxy iis huge, make something up. I'm not sure I've ever had a character from a featured planet.

Bah, foiled by the person who typed the same thing faster then I.

All great ideas! Thanks everyone. You rule!

Make her be from Venus. And you can be from Mars.

Alderaan is a bad idea because the default setting of Edge of the Empire takes place just after Episode IV. In other words ... Alderaan kind of blew up.

I second the Naboo idea, and also that you can make one up.

There are a lot of people from Alderaan who were out in the galaxy and now, with no home to speak of, have to figure out what to do with their lives. It's certainly the sort of thing that could lead someone to the Fringe in perhaps an effort to forget about everything they've lost. In the year or so since Alderaan was destroyed, a character would have time to pick up some Obligation trying to find their way in the galaxy.

Taanab is a pretty beautiful planet too, also she can be from Gallefryn II.

Have a great game!

"Bad idea" was a bit harsh for me to say. I guess what I'm saying is: "if she does come from Alderaan, make sure she knows and is okay with the story idea that it isn't there anymore".

Totally what i was thinking, but i didn't have the heart.

Her being from Alderaan could be really interesting. She could hate the Empire because of what they did, or she could really want to visit The Graveyard.

Corellia has always been a big time favorite of mine, though.

I like the sound or Eriadu or Correlia. You can let her know that Han Solo and Wedge Antilles are both from Correlia.
