I won it all- With Mill

By player2202059, in UFS General Discussion

I played in our sealed event for the 3rd anniversary, and I won. I got a sakura starter... not the starter I wanted- (i wanted sagat or akuma)

Funny enough our final 4 was made up of 2x Sakura, 1x Mai, and 1x Sagat.

I ended up getting Zangeif in one of my packs, and played him for all of my games once I broke the final 4, and won. I played mill, with life gain and damage negation. I didn't even try to win with attacks, the only one I used really was the sakura rare reversal and flying power bomb.

It was fun... I can't beleive how I was able to mill people out so easy.

Congrats!

Mill tends to be much more functional in a sealed environment, and from Set 8 only, Zangy was a beast from what I remember.

How many new players did you guys get at your event?

I basically did the same, 'cept, with Yoshitora + reversals. I milled all my rounds except the finals, where I played against our local super aggressive guy, so I had to outpace him instead of milling. Surprised at how well Yoshitora is and how easily I overlooked him.

This. Tora is awesome.

On the topic of the event I want to say I couldn't believe 4 players who I never seen before came up. It was crazy we had more UFS players then all the DND players for the wold wide DND game peaking at 12 players. I gave them packs of cutting edge , 4 sets of league kits , 3 new shadowar promo characters , a set each of AOP's along with extra cards from the sealed our other players didn't need. Jasmine , Roy, Matt, and Kevin if you listen to this I hope to see you in the future was great meeting you .

We had more people than product... I don't know exactly how many, but it was a lot.

We also had 2 new people show up it was awesome because 4 of our regular players didnt even play so it fhey could have made it(since our sealed was on a different day then normal tourneys) then we would have had 12 and thats probably more then weve had in years

although there were still more DnD players i think overall it was a great day

Zangief is pretty much autowin in ANY type of sealed or limited event. The thing about 'gief is simply that, under most restrictions, he simply cannot die. His health is a generous 32 which is, perhaps oddly enough, backed by a 6 handsize. His reduction has no minimum, so seeing -Alot happens frequently. Plus, most 'gief decks are gonna be running either block support, or cards like Altered Mind and Body, Battle Prowess, and Siberian Training. He's a tank, and the thing about that is that, while people's tiebreakers are low, or going down from losing, 'gief can't ever lose.

Now, maybe he can't win, but...XD

Congrats dude.

Ya I always try to generate a lot of energy for the event especially on the DND game days was pretty awesome we got a bunch of the DND guys checking out the tournament . But it looks like everyone so far had a good event hope we can do it again in the future.

Almost none of the players at our tourney were veterans, most of them didn't come, because of other things going on... so we had at least 10 new people learning and playing the game with us.

we had a decent tourney. pretty much the same guys as usual. but a couple showed up that barely ever play lol.

I won it with aggro fire sagat/yang + 4 savage fighters + 3 4/2 3H3 multiple 2 attacks. and because canceling my opponent blocking with an action is always fun.

We had 10 - myself, and one of my regulars. We didn't play, as we ended up with 2 guys who hadn't played in 2 years, and 6 brand new players.

Lots of teaching, and watching new folks by some product afterwards was awesome.

::Crosses fingers we get to keep them. ::

I don't know if I'll get in trouble for doing so, but I teach at a highschool, and I recruit gamers from it...

I am hoping to get 10 kids into the game by the end of the year. So far I have 3.

We ended up having 16 players with 3 coming from my group which we are all new. I think there was alot of new players, because most of the regular players didnt even play they just went around to help people and judge. Me and one of my group ended up in the final 2 so we didnt play the final match.
