I'm new to Descent 2nd Edition and was wondering why should I buy buy this kit when all you get are hero and monster cards? Did they include marks to represent heros and monsters or am I on my own to do this ? Or have I been misinformed about this. Thanks for all answers as this is my first post. I do enjoy this game !!!

The intent of the conversion kit is for owners of first edition Descent to be able to use those monsters and Heros in D2e. If you do not own any first edition versions, then you would need to provide markers for those heros and Monsters yourself.

As to why to purchase, it simply gives players more options on what heros to play and what Monsters the OL can use for his open groups on encounters.

If you plan on making your own markers, be aware that some of the monsters are large and can take anywhere from one to 6 spaces on a board. The heroes, however, are all one space figures.

The Files section on BGG provides tokens for CK monsters and heroes.

You also can make standups or use proxy figurines (there also is a file which tells you the size of the monsters).

Some CK monsters can be represented by the base game figurines (e.g. the ettins can represent trolls or giants).

This will tell you all the spaces needed for all the monsters if you plan on making your own tokens (that's what our group are doing till we can make the drive for the figures we use the most).
