A player brought this up to me. Do bolts (pyschic barrage specifically) count as ranged attacks for the purposes of "You can't use it in melee"? I assumed they do, but given you're using your mind and not drawing a weapon up, plus how vague the books are on this I figured I'd ask.

Swift Attack works roughly the same way in melee, only using WS, so I don't see why you couldn't use a psychic barrage in melee. Psychic bolts don't "count as" ranged attacks, they are simply "similar to" ranged attacks.

Why couldn't you use Psychc Bolts in melee when you can use pistol weapons (with single, semi-auto or full-auto) in melee.

Unless you have house ruled it like that off course.
