Italian player - help with empire list

Recently I'm having some troubles with the YT-1300, especially with its 360 degree firing range. Do you have any suggestions? I think I'm going to run this team in the next game:

Darth vader - swarn tactics

Academy pilot

Academy pilot

Turr Phenirr - Push the limit

Backstabber

The idea is to make the rebels focus on vader's team, giving me enough time (maybe two turns) to move turr and stabber in a good firing position.

Could it work?

Well i will not criticize your list, as it is solid. Perhaps there are better ones with a combination of Advanced/Interceptors/Fighters but it is certainly not bad.

If you have problems with YT's try a Swarm. 7-8 Tie figthters. Still a very solid squad and good since you can't lose more than one to the YT per turn. In return you do solid damage with 2 dice versus 1 agi.

Another good choice is anything with 3 firepower. Interceptors are more a gamble. You have few hit points with 4 Interceptors but you can hurt the YT a lot too, so it's luck basically.

That all being said, you need to maneuver well since the YT will always be able to shoot you but you will not be if you fail to maneuver right.

I'll definitely try this one; in fact, Millennium Falcon shields are always my problem. Once they're gone it becomes an easy target, especially when it starts to move in order to avoid some shots.

I agree with ForceM.. if you're afraid of Y-Wing, play a kind of swarm. The Y-Wing does it best against smaller forces. And also consider that a good player will left Vader at the last.. You didn't give him any particular skill, so he will fight exactly like any other Tie fighter, only being much more difficult to kill... I'll let him for the end...

yes against the falcon, i would suggest cheap ships over anything else. with its ability to target who ever it wants pretty much without question, you need to limit them to taking out max 12 points a turn. On the other hand though a Firespray (slave-1) is tough enough that it can stand up to a round of shooting, but just like vader it will be your opponents last target. I would suggest either 1 firespray and 4 ties, or 3 firesprays

I often take out the large ships first because they are easiest to hit - I know that my two or three attack dice will only be countered by one or two defence dice, so my shots will not be wasted.

Correct, thats why I suggest an all large ship build can be somewhat effective. Also you have to balance more shots hitting, with the ability to complete remove a target that could put damage on you.

So, if I'd use the squad I posted previously (without changing it) against YT I should concentrate my firepower on that large target?

The more I think about my squad, the more i'm persuaded that a 7 ties swarn would be more effective. Anyway, I'll test both of them. See what happens!

Interested (and Italian) too here. So against Solo we need a swarm of TIE.

Might go 1 alpha and a Howlrunner. Your opponent should be distracted by Howlrunner enough to leave the interceptor alone for a round and if not you just earned yourself 3 dice for the round instead of 2.
