EotE Play by post?

By mfluder, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

how is it done, where is it done? does the GM do all the rolling and just tell pc's what they succeed/fail at? how are stats kept track of?

I may be considering this as an option due to the lack of players in my area. I've tried everything, none of the game stores around me even know about the game. I've even gone so far as to post a craigslist ad when I got the beginners game.

any Ideas? or better yet any players near the boston area?

I am at a conference all week. When I get back, if no one else has jumped in I may start a Beginner's Game play-by-post. If people want I could write an original adventure, either using home rolled characters or the FFG ones. I would certainly be willing to run Escape from Mos Shuda followed by Long Arm of the Hutt.

You might want to check out the Edge of the Empire community on Google+. People are popping up all the time putting online games together. I just joined a play-by-post game that will start soon. There are private communities you can make for play-by-post.

To my knowledge, we're using the honor system for dice rolls. The players roll for themselves with their own dice, and share the results, and narrate what happened. The GM does the same for NPCs. We haven't played yet, but it seems like it will work fine with a group of honest people :)

I like this idea. Never thought to play-by-post. If you decide to start up a game and looking for players, send me a PM, I would be interested.

Sure thing, Yeah thanks everyone! It does in fact seem like tons of people are playing this way! great links.

Regarding dice rolls: the board has an attached dice roller designed for the system, which ACCEPTED PLAYERS can use (and the results of which get sent to me directly via email).

Mythweavers also has a built in EotE dice roller. Not many games active yet, but the dice roller is there.

This reminds me of back in the day we would do play by post AND in chat rooms. Good ol' AOL chat lol
