Royal Guard TIE Interceptor conversion.
incredible.
Palpatine will be pleased
Thanks for the compliments! I think it turned out well for winging it. This was my first Star Wars x-wing conversion and repaint. The hardest part was the extra wings. I made a template to make them for the second escort fighter.
The winglets are a nice touch. Well done!
how did you make the winglets,
I made some cards as am going to do the same
I gave a run down of how I did mine here. http://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/89553-some-photos-of-stuff-you-know-slave-1-interceptors/page-2#entry858024

Your cards come quite close to the ones which the guy over on Few Maneuvers made, I would think that even the bog standard Emperor's Guard would have Elite Training as an option in their bar. I also like the fact their version has support system. These Interceptors were always being tinkered with.

did you do a base token for them?
First off, those are awesome and I'm jealous. I am not NEARLY crafty enough to make the winglets for a cool IG interceptor like that.
Second, I would pay good money (seriously, make me one, I will pay you money
) to see you whip up one of THESE bad boys. http://rpggamer.org/uploaded_images/BTL-B_Y-wing_fighter.jpg
Pretty cards but far too good.
Just look at your Royal Guard Pilot and compare it to a Saber Squadron pilot (21 points) with Veteran's Instincts (+1) and a Shield Upgrade (+4) and you're already a point higher in cost and have burned up all of your upgrade options.
Not sure what to make of Kir Kanos but again it is underpriced considering the built in shield upgrade and TWO remarkable abilities being built in.
RM's version is closest to what could be expected as it is the SSP with Shield upgrade although it also throws in just one more point of pilot skill and adds another upgrade option for the one additional point.

You can't quite work out points like that. The cost of upgrades is averaged on how useful they are across the board, and they have to take into account things like taking Shield Upgrade with R2-D2 (not that this is OP or anything, but I couldn't think of any other example.) generally there is a premium when you get the choice and can combine with other things. In this case you don't have a choice (Most Interceptor pilots would generally take Stealth over Shield). So I think, overall, that maybe it's not quite worth the 4 points on an Interceptor.
Also upgrade options, wouldn't I think increase the unit cost in many cases, as you have to pay for the upgrade when you attach it. You look at the Slave-1 title it doesn't have a cost attached.
I've found that there is always a point with creating units, after looking at the numbers, where you have to go with gut feelings. Is a PS:5 Interceptor with one shield and the ability to take system upgrades equal with Soontir Fel. I don't feel it's quite as good, PS:9 and Soontir's skill is probably better, so I wouldn't take the EGI all the way up to 27, with the card layout I posted.
Edited by Rodent MastermindSo a 25 point "Royal Interceptor" with a P6 rating and all the functionality of a standard interceptor with a Shield Upgrade is completely on par with X-Wing Rookies with Engine Upgrades? Or is an X-Wing a "terrible" option for Engine Upgrades? At 25 points they should be equal so that means:
Barrel Roll + Evade option +1 Defense Die + great maneuver dial +4 pilot skill = target lock option + 1 shield.
This is why I'm saying sib's costs are too low. Most people will say the game is "well balanced" which means you should be able to add up the options when comparing things. Even if most TIE Interceptors would rather take a cheaper Stealth Device that doesn't mean they wouldn't see a benefit from taking the Shield Upgrade instead; besides, a Shield Upgrade ALWAYS works while a Stealth Device could fail you as soon as you're attacked.
I actually think Rodent's ship is pretty decent/accurate and fully realize that the system upgrade needs to be paid for separately. Of course getting that option means the ship could take the fire-control computer allowing it to target-lock ships it attacks despite lacking that option normally.
I tend to agree with you steve, I wont take the credit the stats are not my work, I just made the cards.
I will have a muse on this and see if I can cost them better

Perhaps saying they are "far" too good it too much but IF we want to say things are balanced at present they are better than what you could boost a current ship to.
Kanos is hard to judge but taking away the bonus primary attack when it's getting attacked at range 1 is pretty big. I mean you throw the Stealth Upgrade on it and now you're rolling more dice to evade then they get to hit. Combine that with doubling the options available with a Boost (if Boost if worth +4 as an upgrade this faster boost should probably be worth at least another +4 if it were made generally available) and it's just overkill.
How about this for Kia Kanos:
"When you perform a boost action, you may immediately perform a free action."
Combined with Elite Pilot Skills, this would be a powerful but unique ability. Kanos with PTL or Daredevil could cover a LOT of ground.
I also liked Rodent's Royal Guard stats, adding System Upgrades seems like a logical thing for these elite, high-tech interceptors. His "generic" Royal Guard is great as is, Kia Kanos should have the System Upgrade and the special ability above. That would seem good, but maybe a little powerful for 28 points (maybe 30?).

Darth Vader Interceptor. A bit more limited perhaps assuming you can't boost twice but just looks like Vader.
I suppose that is true. My thought was to have Kanos be able to boost and/or barrel roll every turn, in addition to whatever else it does. Maybe there is a better way to word it to accomplish that end.
It seemed different than Vader in that it is exceedingly maneuverable, with no need for Engine Upgrade, but perhaps not as generally useful (cannot TL and Focus, or Focus and hand off an action).
Kia is underpriced by maybe 3-4 points. Two abilities? No one else in the game has two abilities and I dont think she should either now matter how good we think she should be. If so, wedge deserves way more survivability.
Few Maneuvers is back up so I'll link the other pilots that go with the EGI I linked earlier

If you compare JayRhea version of Kir Kanos, he has it at 31 points and I don't think his ability is quite as good.

The prices on JayRhea's versions all seem more reasonable.
One thing that interesting to note is he is using the A-Wing dial not the Interceptor one.. The only difference is 5 straight is green not white so it's a very minor improvement to it's maneuverability. I don't find I use 5 straights very often
