Making New Grunts!

By Drop Bear, in Tannhauser

What about naming the unit Panzertruppen ?

There are 2 kinds of german rocket launchers:

- Panzerfaust: very basic one, single use, no aiming system, 30 meters of optimal range, was distributed to Hitler Youth (Hitler-Jugend) and basic soldiers

- Panzerschreck: more sophisticated one, with a piece of shield, multiple use, better range, was distributed to elite soldiers

The Panzerfaust II was found by the Allies on both sides of the divide post War, aparantaly it was reloadable with varying Munitions and had beter range but was to production intensive to be deployed so late in the War, where the Panzerschreck was just a knock off of the American Bozoka. The Panzerfaust I'm using will likily be a Panzerfaust II that IRL was to be deployed with Paratroops, Storm Troops and such, since the Tannhauser Reich dosen't seam to have the Problems that stopped the RW introduction of the Panzerfaust II.

and IIRC Panzertruppen where the Heavy Infantary deployed along side the Panzer Core and used MP-44/Sturmgewehr 44's and MG-42's.

Panzerfaust II would be fine and furthermore it's less cumbersome than the first version.

Have you thought about a combat value malus due to the crude aiming device ?

I agree such a weapon would deal automatic damage but as it's difficult to aim when using this weapon, there should be a malus imo.

Panzerfaust II where far less crude, hence why they where to resorce intencive to produce at that point in the war, also I don't want to Nerf the weapon to much, besides in a 1.5-2m wide hall it's "Horse Shoes & Handgrenades" and near misses count.

Well Commando Fox has passed her first Play test, in seperate Deathmatch games she using her Combat Pack has subed for each Commando Alpha & Delta on the Manor board with different Players each game, General concencis is she faired no better or worse than the current Union Troops, I'd like some help with futher Playtest from those on these boards if I could.

Also talking over the Coil Trooper & Blutsturm Enforcer, and the Concepts where either seen as Balls or to hard to balance, where as Commando Hotel looks like he has some potenchial. his Combat Pack as it stands at this stage of development is "Keep Moving" 2X S&W 1917's and a new special ability "Gun Fighter" that alows him to fire both guns (at a reduced Combat Value) at the same time, where the Stamna Pack swaps one gun for Extra Ammo and "Gun fighter" for "Go Go Go".

An interesting concept would be a German Heavy trooper.

Heavy body Armor with 2 MG 42s on the sholders with an ammo canister on the back.

This kind of unit already exists in Field Ops. Don't forget Tannhäuser is mainly a skirmish game so there should never be über units in it, except legends of course ;)

And what would be his weakness ?

Well be sides the obvious fact that MG 42s over heat pretty quickly.

-The gun would get +2 per die when attacking. If the attacker decides to attack with it on the following turn ignore the attack bonus and put a over heat counter on the characters sheet. The character wielding this weapon can not attack on the following turn.

Basically cools off for 1 turn.

it would be slow, low intelegence,

The weight MG-42 requires an additional -1 movement when moving through negative movement terrain.
