I played another game with my friend tonight. We dominated. It was the smoothest game I have played to date. The only thing that we were unsure about was an Exhibit Encounter called "An Insidious Trap." If you accept and take the two items where does the gate open? Does it open in the street where you encounter it, or does the gate open at a location randomly? Thanks again.
I just played my first game, and I had a few questions...
When instructed to open a gate by any card and the card does not specify where, draw a mythos card and ignore everything but where the Gate opens (unless you are playing with Acts from KiY, in which case I think the FAQ says you must also check for Environments - trust me, this is very annoying and nasty)). You must continue searching until you find a card that opens a Gate.
Edited by dj2.0I disagree, dj. Many encounter cards simply say "a gate and monster appear!" and it's understood that it's in your space.
So I'm saying that you open the gate right where you are: in the street. But remember the universal rule introduced in Lurker in the Threshold: gates in stable locations and streets cannot be sealed.
Ok, that makes sense to me too!. So I agree with you on the use of this encounter, but I don't want Mud Turkey 13 to think that the point about browsing the Mythos deck to find the location to open a gate is entirely wrong. It is just not required in this case.
Alrighty. Thanks for clearing that up.
If a gate is on a street location can you move through it to get to the locations in that area, or would you have to close it before you can reach those areas?
Edited by Mud Turkey 13Remember you enter gates during Phase III, Arkham Encounters. So, if during Phase II, Movement, you move on a gate and then you move away, nothing happens. If you end your movement ON the gate, during Phase III you're sucked in
