Your favourite campaign hero or monster?

By sdh007, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Just wondering...if you play a campaign which hero do you pick and what class? Also curious about what monster you prefer to have on the board as the overlord. Expansion heroes and monster are also welcome ;)

For me I kinda had success with Syndrael and the Knight class so I'm gonna go with that. Made her into a powerful defensive tank with hardly anything getting through to her.

As overlord...well...I kinda like the Ettins and Hybrid Sentinels. The Ettins for the heavy hitting part and the Sentinels cos "prey of the weak", "fly", ""firebreath" and they start immediatly with a black defense die.

I only played as a hero once. i played the archetype scout. class ranger. i pretty much liked this character. he is very fast and can attack and move in some action. just a fun character to play.

next time i will play the thiefe or the healer.

I have also only played a hero once, and I mean for one encounter. The Scout Jane as thief. I would be the scout again, hands down. I like speed and would like to not fight if at all possible. I know it comes down to it. I saw it happen in our last campaign. I also know she is the target of the OL plans every time ^.^;; As the OL, I make it that way.

As the OL, I am the generic person that loves her dragons. Anything dragons, but I don't always play them. Shadow dragons (requires a surge to hit them), ice wyrms (they eat heroes) and Hybrid Sentinels (they are a powerhouse with wings!). I also love kobolds purely for the lol factor. >D! I guess fire imps would go into that category as well, BUT there are just more of kobolds then fire imps which boots the funny.

Elder Mok The Spiritspeaker is my favorite choice and Blood Apes, if they are allowed to present in encounter, be sure they will. :)

Well like i said i choose normally Ettins and Hybrid Sentinels but in a way it comes down to the objective. A merriod could be fun due to the Immobilize part to slow the heroes down.

As a hero, I'm willing to try a mage but then i think of all the evil things I could do with having magical power

On of my favorite toon I played with was Alvric as Disciple and geared him to be the tank of the group.

The Disciple class plus his Hero skill helps getting some heals here and there plus I managed to grab and equip him with the Aurium Mail and the Shield of the Dark God. I bought him the Light Mace to go with that.

He's extremely powerful and useful and the OL always try to down him first but with his defence rerolls he's just too awesome!

Other nice combo I tried was Quellen as Runemaster and Reynhart as Champion.

I have to say my favorite hero currently is Silhouette as a thief. Her crazy movement feat has meant an early victory on many a quest.

As far as the monstor side goes, I only was overlord for the base campaign prior to any expansion or conversion pack. At that time I really liked the Merroids with there immobilze and multi target ability. I am sure that will change when I overlord the "Silken Threads" user created campaign.

I did like Avric Albright (who was essentially the only hero I've played as), though if I were to play as a hero again and not the overlord as per usual, I'd most likely choose Shiver or Zyla (from the 1st edition) or Ulma or Dezra (haven't seen any of the Labyrinth of Ruin heroes in play yet so I can't form certain thoughts on them).

As for monsters, while I love a big, stompy monster, my personal favorites are smaller ones like Shades, Medusas, Nagas, or Bane Spiders. I'm also a big fan of the Carrion Drakes and the Merriods.

The Ferrox is my favorite monster group. I love the disease power.

Elder Mok The Spiritspeaker is my favorite choice and Blood Apes, if they are allowed to present in encounter, be sure they will. :)

One of master's action is move action with fly and aoe attack (if there was a figures in it's path). And it is a little bit of nostalgie, in D1 leap attack was "move double your speed in a straight line..."

I played hero for about half a campaign. I controlled Tarha as geomancer and Quellen as necromancer (consciously reversing the roles they're essentially built for). I liked the geomancer class, but definitely think I'd stick it on Quellen. Would love to try Nanok as berserker, but that might be a bit far away.

I'm usually overlord anyways, with elementals probably being my favorite from the base game. I also really enjoy fire imps. Being not too deep into Labyrinth I can't accurately judge all its monsters, though I do foresee volucrix reavers becoming standard fare for me. And I also picked up some golems a while ago that I've used once, but they didn't get any screen time!

If I had to choose just one, I'd probably say fire imps. Their sheer number makes for some fun swarming, and my heroes hate their masters' Combustion, haha. That may very well change to golems though, once I get a better chance to crush my puny players with them!

Really depends on quests and how many heroes playing (and type). If I had to pick a hero I'd say Jain I like her speed abilities. Alvric is a nasty guy with Aurium Mail don't think I've KO this guy with that armor/heal/passive/Disiple combo yet.

If I had to pick a monster it's a toss up of Sentinals.Ettins,Dragons I like them all.

Nanok as a champion, really cool and powerfull

Hybrid sentinels, so marvelous, powerfull, and I love human hybrids (to bad heroes are often humans, tough)

Shiver as the geomancer

Silhouette as thief

Aurim as apothecary

Reynhart as champion

Blood apes definitely! Ravage ability is great

ravage is really better on ranged attacks, like the Chimera
