Assassin tree question

By bsmith23, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Can someone explain to me why Assassin tree does not have Toughened? Only it and Slicer seem to not have it. I can see it for Slicer, but Assassin? I mean if Scholar can have it for 5xp...

So, if I were to house rule include it, where do you think it should go or replace?

Why? Dip into the other talent tree. Assassin has plenty of good talents, no reason to eliminate them for a generic talent everyone else has.

The assassin also has a lot of "don't get hit in the first place" style talents. Or just slide over to Gadgeteer for a quick dip.

:edit: That being said, you could just swap out Grit for Toughened if it really nags at you. Afterall it's your game and if the way it's laid out right now doesn't work for you then change it :D . You can always change it back later.

Good points, all. Thanks.

All of what was said before and...

If an assassin is good and competent at his job, he won't need the Toughened talent. The victim will be poisoned, sniped, or otherwise eliminated at range or with secrecy. Less assassin creed, more proper assassination.

This is very much the truth.

The Assassin isn't meant to be a "stand up and fight" type of combatant. Think D&D-style Rogue, or better yet the protagonist in games like Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell. Those guys are best suited to "take the enemy down before they know what hit them" approaches to combat.

For most assassins, if they find themselves in a situation where the enemy can return fire, then they've done something very wrong along the way...
