I'm wondering/fearing that after I collect several sets of dice for EOTE, thinking I've got all I'll need for myself and other players, FFG will start putting out diff dice for the new books.. like new dice for force users or capital ship combat...
any ideas?
I suppose that additional dice aren't totally impossible, but I'm not expecting to see anything like that. The existing dice may seem specialized, what with the color-coding and special symbols, but the core mechanic for EOTE really is pretty integrated. I don't really think FFG is trying for a collectible dice game.
I really don't think we will have to worry about it.
Yeah I don't see them doing this. I can maybe see someone doing some themed dice that use different symbols to represent the various results or something, but in general I think we are set that way.
During the EotE release video, I'm pretty sure they said that all three books and their supplements will be 100% compatible, and will all use the same dice. I don't think they would shoot themselves in the foot by changing dice color/symbols and adding an unnecessary layer of confusion.
The system has a basis in the FFG Warhammer fantasy system, this is where the seed of the dice system came from. They seem to have refined it and learnt from their mistake with Warhammer in as much as too many counters and cards for many players. I suspect that this means they will not be likely to add anything which might smack of that to the system.

With all the possibilities that the narrative dice system has it would be a shame to significantly alter it. Already I'm seeing the seeds for what can be really incredible lightsaber duels with this system (something that previous incarnations of SW RPGs have struggled with, IMO).
In the promotional video they said something like all three games will use the same core mechanics, but they also said something like all games will have their respective accessories. So what "accessories" mean, could be many things.
I'm leaning towards "accessories" meaning their own focus. Edge is focused on scum & villainy (not necessarily bad guys), the next will focus on the war-machine (the fight between the Rebels and the Empire, and the third book will be post RotJ, and focus on all the goodies that come with Force users.
I see each book being a sort of stop-gap between the OT films. Eps 4.5, 5.5, and 6.5 respectively. All set to lead us in to the next film in 2015.

Yeah but it's implemented that they talk about different things in the video, but different focus of the games but also different accessories in excess of the dice. That's atleast how I understood the video.

They will never need to add new dice to the game, since we already have the force die.
I think this question was posed to Horvath in the last Order66 episode, and if I recall correctly his answer was basically: no comment... but then, they rarely (i.e. never?) answer question about future products as I understand it.
I would like some standups though - like those for WFRP. Would be awesome if you could buy packs with different types.

Just made a 71 page PDF for A4 printing with standups from paper friends. Nice :-) I have ordered some plastic stands that hold them perfectly.

I wouldn't be surprised if it also means a new GM screen for the other two games. The one we have could easily have had the 'Star Wars Roleplaying' logo on it, but instead specifically says 'Edge of the Empire'. Of course much of it would stay the same, but I'd bet new screens with a book-specific focus (and art) are likely... especially if they come with an adventure, as this one did.

Nah, I will bet a thread post that they have the same information on each of them with perhaps different art styles. Just pick your favorite.
