Galactic Map - Core Rulebook

Hey Star Wars fans,

Just picked my copy of the Core Rulebook and was looking at the Galaxy Map for important locations as such and the SW Group I belong to noticed an oversight on the Map. The planet Kamino is not located on the Map. Just wondering if this was an misprint? Any thoughts are welcome.

Well, a few things here.

First, my snarky comment. "You know where else the planet Kamino is not located? The Jedi archives." Kamino probably isn't someplace everyone should know about :P

I doubt it was oversight. In all seriousness, if you really want to be able to find every and any planet, your best bet is to spend the 22 bucks and pick up a copy of "The Essential Atlas". This is almost an unofficial FFG Star Wars product. It's a must-have for any GM that is going to be doing lots of planet-hopping in a campaign, or just wants to know more about the Star Wars galaxy, and where things are. If you are the kind of GM that just likes to wing-it (and thats just fine, EotE lends itself to that style of play very well), then you can easily get by without it, but the book is truly amazing.

And for the record, its right by Rishi (rishi maze) and ukio, which, its basically in the middle of a triangle made by Rodia, Gamorr, and Bothawui, which I'd imagine are on the map.

With a universe as deep as Star Wars, plenty of planets are going to be omitted. Mon Mothma's home world of Chandrila isn't even included and it is a Core World

If they did leave it out on purpose...that's kinda awesome.

They might have left it out because Kamino is technically in the Rishi Maze companion galaxy, and lies well outside the plane of the "main" galaxy.

Unless you count the story in Battlefront 2. The Empire was still using it for stormtroopers, to say nothing of Darth Vader's "secret cloning project" 1 BBY in The Force Unleashed 2. Many tabletoppers new to the game series might have more familiarity with the video games than with the novels or just the films themselves, and want to incorporate that into their adventure. Nothing wrong with wondering.

So is Tython, Korriban, Gree, and Rakata Prime, but they are on there.

Yet, Dromund Kaas isn't.

I'm not upset, but some of the choices they made for planet omissions puzzle me. Regardless, that galaxy map might be my favorite section of the whole book, and I would pay a lot of credits for a poster-sized version.

Keep in mind that not everyone is going to be playing in the timeframe specified in the core rules, either...

Basically, some systems are going to be omitted just due to space concerns. It will happen on anything less than a fully interactive digital galactic atlas. Which really needs to be made.
