Mono Lore Drawing Support Deck

By richsabre, in Strategy and deck-building

heres a quick drawing mono lore support deck, designed to be played along side a secrecy deck, or decent fighting deck

the idea is that with bombur being 2 dwarves, and there being quite a few dwarf allies in the deck which the mono lore resources can quickly buy, ori will soon give +1 card per turn

bilbo also gives +1 card when you are the first player so you can soon get 3 cards per resource phase

things like mithrandirs advice gives 3 cards for 1 cost, the less effective but still good loriens wealth is 3 cards for 3 cost, peace and thought can be played with bilbo with fast hitch on and perhaps bombur, meaning you only are really having 1 hero exhausted per turn.

gleowine draws an extra 1 per turn, hammersmith is there to bring the ranger spikes and snares back though anborn could be in as well when we get him

ithillien archer may be put in when i get him to add some ranged support with haldir

its a shame that there isnt a lore will of the west to get the cards back though if you are running a spirit partner deck then its not so much of a problem

interesting build, it seems so rare anymore (yet refreshing) to have a dwarf build not featuring Dain. Please update how the deck performs in your quests

thanks. i used the deck with my most powerful deck, a secrecy deck that can kill the likes of ithillien (well sometimes haha)

the lore deck works well, the draw being the most useful aspect. resources arent much of a problem due to the mono sphere

the deck starts at 25 which isnt too bad. there is a solid defender in bombur who is of course useless for anything else. ori quests with bilbo.

its certainly not a powerful deck, but once you get out map maker for instance, it can really become a great quest deck.

i think the obvious weakness is attacking especially with a secrecy deck which naturally wont engage many enemies. the mirkwood runners do a lot to help this but for higher hitpoint enemies killing takes a while

the spikes do help though, and even though i havent yet had the draw come up to let me recycle with hammersmith, i see it becoming a good combo, or with anborn as i say.

i think advance warning will also help in the enemies, though i havnt the card yet so im using a few copies of needful to know.

lastly there is 3 copies of forest snare for when you really cant let enemies keep attacking. not one for people with 1 core set, but another card can easily be put in. i also think i shall put the ithillen archer in to see how he fares

Have you considered Ithilien Pit? you have a low enough starting threat that this could be useful. Have the mirkwood runners chip away at them from the staging area

i also want to find a way to make ithilien archer useful but the ability just doesnt have enough developed around it yet despite the current traps. i suppose with the new Boromir hes a ranged 3 attacker which is good but once Anborn comes out all of these ranger themes will work better

yes i am intending to put that one in when i get it. it shall be a deck of traps, hopefully more of which we shall see. i think the pit is made for decks like these. thanks!

If running out of cards is a problem, I guess you could put A Good Harvest and Will of the West. With all the card draw I suppose it wouldn't be difficult to get them both quickly. Anyway, very interesting deck.

thats not a bad idea. and yes, if your deck is about to run out then you will end up having them anyways! (as long as you dont end up having to discard them of course)

thanks!

No problem. Could you also post the secrecy deck too please? I just can't come up with a decent secrecy deck myself.

sure. this one has beaten ithillien regularly. its also pretty easy to get your threat down to 0 on the easier quests to get a very low score
