Just bought to core sets and waiting for them to come in teh mail. What should I get if I want to start rebels, and whats is some good list to run.
Just bought 2 cores now what
I suggest one of every expansion and then more of what you like to play. I bought lots of TIE Fighters because I just love lots of TIE screaming into combat. Are you a Y-Wing person, X-Wing, or freighter person? All are quite viable.

Don't forget A-Wings.
Two core sets and you want to run Rebels.... While there will be many suggestions picking up a Falcon can give you a few variations with a YT-1300 and one or two X-Wings. Admittedly you may want the pilots from the X-Wing pack but that would be just one ship.
1 yt-1300
1 y-wing
1 x-wing pack
another yt
2 a-wings
second y-wing
on so on
I have:
2 core sets
3 Y-Wings
1 X-Wing expansion
1 A-Wing
1 YT-1300
1 TIE Advance
1 TIE Interceptor
And 1 Firespray 31
Lots of fun to play and I look forward to learning more here on the Forum.
The reason I got 2 core is because they were 20$ last week on coolstuff. Thanks for the ideas what to get for rebels. This is what I was thinking about getting to add to my 2 core sets
1 Y wing
1 YT-1300
3 A wing
1 x wing
3 A-wings might be 1 too many I think, unless you want to have 3 PTL's for other ships...just my opinion. In any game I've played, I never went with more than 2.
However I can't dispute PTL's effectiveness...YMMV.
Edited by JohdoEngine Upgrades are nice for the X-Wings, so one YT-1300 is pretty important. Not to mention it is a nice ship on it's own. I've seriously been considering a second YT-1300 just be wise of the deck it provides. But I agree with many above, at least one X-Wing expansion, Wedge and his droid are nice additions. A Tie Fighter Expansion adds three more unique pilots you can use with your Ties you already have, but if you are really focusing on the rebels you can skip that for now.
Really, the answer to your question is subjective to how you will build squads. I use http://x-wing.voidstate.com/build, which is a great squad building utility. It has all the cards from all the expansions. Try building some squads, and pay attention to what expansions you are using cards from (they are listed when you add the enhancements to a ship while building). That should help you prioritize what you need to get next. This stuff is expensive, so getting the most bang for your buck is quite useful. I bet by the end, you'll have at least one of each ship, even though a lot are Imperial.
It's good having two core sets overall. Some reasons why:
Extra dice for more attack and defense
extra token in case you lose some
extra cards in case lost, damaged
Extra templates for similar reasons.
The hardest part about getting a second core set, for me, was what to do with all the extra stuff. But it's to know I'll have extras if I need them in the future.
