UED Siege rush

When playing UED special victory (which is no special victory at all) you are given an interesting strategy option because your starting unit is a siege tank. So you may build a reserch module then research siege mode using gold order and take it to your hand and attack an enemy base. In the first round no starting army can match the power of your siege tank and there is no chance they can save their base because of the collateral damage. Quite strong I think, what are your opinions?

Just make sure to protect that tank.

Right. I wouldn't be too sure about that "stand no chance against". Two attacks on that thing by two players sick of being pushed around and you are the one being rushed for good.

Talking about the first round here. And in the first round I doubt that someone would put two mobilize orders on his starting planet and in addition It is me with a siege tank attacking so I usually destroy most of his units with my attack and there is little left for counter attack (of course I am not attacking with the siege tank alone but also with other units) and I have never had problems with the siege tank surviving (with research and bonus card It can have 8/10)

There are some quite good counters against Siege Rush:

Note that UED player has only 7 workers in 1st round. He needs 5 to have Siege Mode in his hand (or 3, if he wants to risk and draw it during battle), so he rather wants to buy only 2 Marines more in this round. So he can have only 5 Marines + Siege Tank, and rather poor cards except one Siege Mode.

1) Don't place any starting units on area with your base , so UED player will have to defend on this field, if wants to destroy base ---> he loses his advantage then. He must play card to use Collateral Damage. And, he will need more Mobilize orders if he wants to damage also your units ---> his own planet will be really vulnearable

2) Place the base on field with low unit limit, so only few UED units will enter this area ---> They are easier to be removed.

3) Attack and destroy the tank before UED researches Siege Mode - it's quite probable that you will remove the tank from play. It may be easily done. At least, you will force UED to attack without cards for tank.

4) If you worry you will not reclaim the area with your base, just destroy it by yourself after your built units in your build order. Then you are able to build another one in the same time, witout giving free CP points to UED.

5) Just build Air Support Module early and you may be quite sure that you won't lose your base in first round.

6) Additional hints for each race:

Terrans:

- Remember, you can lift-off your base when you reveal Mobilize order

- Use your Vultures, Firebats to kill Marines or Tank with Splash Damage

- Lockdown/Optical Flare may be helpfull too

- Flying units (Wraihts) won't trigger tank's Splash/Coll. Damage, UED may have problems with killing them

Zerg:

- Use Zergling Rush - you have far better cards than UED and tons of cheap units (good support to kill tank)

- Spawn Broodling may kill tank before its Collateral Damage is activated

Protoss:

- Don't let the UED to attack first

- You need lot of units, so you can't lose much of them - try to avoid Splash Damage

MO, this rush works best vs Protoss and when your enemy is unprepared for defense. It may be also really dangerous in Team Games or in any situations, where other players can help you in Planning Phase with their orders.
