Hobbit Strike!

By shoreless, in Strategy and deck-building

I am glad to see Mr. Pippin join us in the cards and that we're now able to have hobbit decks! I put this together and it's worked out rather nicely. Shame the only hobbit allies are pretty useless (at least solo).

A few things to keep in mind before you critique: this is meant as a solo deck. Threat management is a must for tricksy hobbits to sneak by and for Mr. Gandalf to hang around, therefore Arwen is good to have opening hand so we can get some counsel from her dad. Vassal is there for Battles and for a quick shot of damage. Use Infighting to soften up enemies in the staging area. I'll toot my own hobbit-horn and say that this is a pretty well-rounded deck. I've had all kinds of draws, some where I get the necessary attachments to beef up the little folk, some where I've gotten all allies, no allies, no Good Harvests, etc. and it's always managed to work out.

Now that I'm done gloating, tear my deck to pieces.

Totally random aside, but why did they go with Pippin instead of Peregrin Took when the other hobbits got their full names?

I'd feel bad for the card designer that has to try and fit Meriadoc Brandybuck into the standard template.

I see you always should to have a problem with a card draw. Yes for fun is ok but if you wonna make a really strong deck to deal with most of the quests you should to add mire draw engine like Cleowine, daerons rune and so on

Also traps you need for sure

I really like this deck. I'm guessing that instead of Song of Wisdom you meant Song of Battle? Otherwise I'm not sure how you are paying for the Vassals and Ring Mail (which is awesome on Bilbo, especially if you add A Burning Brand). Glaurung has a good point about using traps to help mitigate some of the combat and staging area threat. I hope that FFG keeps up the support for the Hobbit trait (maybe some card draw and encounter deck manipulation) so that this deck becomes even stronger in the future.
