******Ken****** is he playable....YES HE IS

By Nemesis15, in UFS General Discussion

Im sure there a many Ken fans out there be it either in UFS or SF4...

He has never really been a real faviroute of mine, but now he is let me explain...

While at the Exeter regional me and a few friends were discussing ways to make some characters compeitive for tournament.. We stumbled upon and we tryed to think of ways to make him competive, then I suddenly had an idea about how to make him awesome.. With the new set out in a few weeks the have began to preview cards that are soon to be released and 1 of them stuck out a mile, the Ice Coffin of the Frozen Adrian Asset..

It says while this card is in your staging area players may not gain vitality, and ******Ken****** says your opponent gains vitality and commits X foundations. X cannot be more than your opponents maximum vitality minus their current vitality..

So what that means quite simply, you can tap opponents staging and they won't gain any vitality at all..

Now I dunno about you but that sounds really fun...

I doubt that'll make him any more playable than he already is for two reasons... One, even now you can easily just set him up to soften the opponent up in one turn, then use his ability and finish them off the next even with their health refilled... and two, he gets negated by red lotus anyway

Also, show me the ruling that says this works.

Once ice coffin is legal so is the new terrain rule, so its easily dealt with

Even then I'm not even convinced this works. Wouldn't the committing foundations part be related to the vitality gain, making the whole thing a big fat zero with a bar in it in terms of vit gain and commital?

Ice Coffin says neither player may gain vitality. Key says your opponent gains X vitality AND Commits. If Ken was worded with then rather than and, it would have a problem. As it is, it works just fine.

A section that I never read.

regardless of whether or not they do or do not have to gain vitality, the whole point is that he so easily taps their staging area. It only makes matters more smexy when you realize he can run The Ways of Punishment off two symbols.

Also, what the fruit is with all this Ice Coffin chatter? Ice Coffin has Chaos-Evil-Life, Ken has Earth-Good-Void. The deuce?

This Ken + Sparring Gloves definitely has some potential.

Perhaps oddly enough, this ENTIRE DISCUSSION, I thought people really were talking about the possibilities of running Ken with Ice Coffin. I was like...what in the HELL is this board smoking? That's like a 20 turn combo =/

The way it's worded, it looks like they both gain vitality AND commit; not gain THEN commit...

Doesn't matter; Ken is still teh busteds, and is the first good Ken we've seen since Boxing Ring **LOLKen**

ken is an execelent char and one of void's best options. he will definately be a force to be reckoned with in the future especialy if void gets more suport.

dont forget u can run junis spiral arrow off the combo, then u can take 2 turns to kill them and commit anything u missed the first time.

or how many ever times you can play it in consecutive turns and make it deal damage......sounds like a winning combo 2 me

Good/Void splash, use Mentally Unstable.

Void/Void splash, use Irrecovably Changed. +1H block!!!

^- he's got it.

While this is cute, I don't think Ken is that dangerous at all. Good, yes. But not dangerous. I tried to come up with lists for him and none of them produce a deck that you can absolutely say will rattle the cages.

He requires too much setup to work. If you want to do something cute with Spiral Arrow, use Starter Sakura. Just run 4 copies of it as your attack base, used Altered Mind and Body, Schoolgirl Innocence, Without a Trainer, and all the usual All cards necessary, and the result will be far better than doing it with a Ken deck. I warn you though-the deck is very boring.

I'll find a way. I always do. And then I go 1-4-1 in a tournament, but I'LL FIND A WAY ANYWAY.

How does he take that much time to set up? you need to lose some life and then have a ice coffin in play use kens form to tap down there staging area...and once that happens you can use spiral arrow to keep them tapped down youve got ice coffin for the speed boost and thats all you need

4 cards.....is it any harder than defender looping...nope it requires the same number of cards you just have to lose life first.....
