So what future supplements do you hope to see in the future...

By Jamescuk, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

A poster of the galaxy map in the book would be really nice.

Although not an EotE supplement I would love to see the system applied to other genres. I know WHFRP uses a similar system but from what I have seen the EotE system is more streamlined.

Definitely agree with the above mention of "Force and the Outer Rim" - give us ways to play "Weak" Shaman or other random force traditions like Gand Findsmen. Even in much of the EU - the Jedi and Sith are treated as just plain better than -most- of these traditions. (Nightsisters and Killian Rangers being rather high profile exceptions). But this could be a cool treat for those of us who want more Force now.

I would also hope for some "Era" sourcebooks for some of the more popular ones like KOTOR era. Though timing for these era ones might be a trick. On one hand I can see it being sweet to do a book now, for EotE style play in said era. On the other, it might be best to wait for Force and Destiny to be out so all levels of play are covered by it. Truthfully, probably best if it is the latter even if I selfishly want it now.

The downside and almost terrifying one of the Era books is that with the new Disney policy of disregarding the EU, it suddenly might make the license a heck of a lot more awkward.

I think this is a great idea--wait until three core rulebooks have been released, then due a different era book which is compatible.

I think different era books could also have their own Species, and maybe a few unique careers or specializations (not sure). For example a KOTOR era might have Selkath and Cathar.

As for your last comment about the new movies, I don't think so. Any era before the Rebellion Era will still be fine, and as for afterwards? Make an era book based off the new movies. Right?

Don't forget Miraluka in Kotor!

I want a smuggler handbook to guide someone through the ins and outs of the trade. What planets have that other planets need and a general guideline of what it's worth.

I'm feeling that the current license will not cover future movies.

That's almost a given. Though potentially so far out it has some interesting issues of its own. Sure Force and Destiny should land right around the time that Episode 7 does. Heck, with some luck they'll even be privy to some information to use as I am going to go out on a limb that the movie might land a bit earlier than the book (Actually, I HOPE the book comes post movie) so they might be able to incorporate that setting info into it.

Where it gets awkward is we then have a 4 year wait to see how the setting is altered by a new Trilogy - not to mention whatever the 'interim' year movies are doing to the setting (The one off not trilogy movies being done in the 'off' years where a new trilogy movie doesn't land). Because if there is one thing that we can almost guarantee this new trilogy will do, it is alter the setting again.

I would like to see lots of adventures. Not interested in books that add new talent or character options. Have book shelves filled with WEG and WoTC sourcebooks and other non-RPG reference books. But really need adventures!

One of the best things about the west end games system for me were the galaxy guides, I would like to see something along those lines released every other month. I would also like to see a supplement book for the rebellion and empire including some deck plans, etc. And lastly I'd like to see some campaign boxes.

Campaign boxes? You mean like Greyhawk or Forgotten realms? Isnt that what the atlas is for?

I would love to see monster/NPC and vehicle/ship cards. Without an electronic version of the game stuff like that can't be printed off to be used at the table so card with the info on it would be very helpful.

To piggyback off of this I would say lots of adventures, and in general stuff that makes the GM prep easier.

I meant campaign boxes that contain a campaign setting, adventures, maps, handouts, etc.

I honestly haven't thought about campaign boxes in years.

I much prefer a hard or softbound book with all of the pertinent information presented easily. I hated the maps that required you to have an entire floor or wall dedicated to seeing them. They were great at the time, don't get me wrong, but looking back at them from a modern perspective with full color pages interiors...nah.

If you want that level of detail in a book form for Star Wars, there is an essential atlas for star wars available that comes highly reccomended.

I honestly hope there isn't too much offered. Splatbook bloat is a real thing, and can take a smooth system and bog it down with power creep and analysis paralysis.

I was actually a little disappointed to see the announcement for a whole book for Explorers. We're already pretty much committed to $180 for the whole system due to Fantasy Flight's modular approach and the $60 price point. My budget literally won't accommodate even smaller books (say, $40) for each of the 6 classes presumably included with each of those.

But what if the smaller books actually have good information about creating your own star systems, gear, gadgets, vehicles, etc. They seem to be a comprehensive class set rather than anything else.

I am mostly worried about the additional core books being mostly identical, with only a 1/3 of the text being truly new and not reprinted or recycled.

A player supplement detailing more universal specializations, talents, gear, races, and all the other fun bits.

While they will have a different slant, those who already have the core rules through The Edge of the Empire will be paying for 2/3rd of the book on material they already own. I had the same issue with all of the Palladium System books. Cool as they were, so much was recycled.

These are great questions for the Order 66 podcast coming up!

I would like to see FFG focus on getting the core rulebooks out first and then put out the fluff like modules and additional resource books. As much as i am happy they are supporting this product, i would prefer the focus rest on the core games first.

The core books are on a set schedule. Support material will be coming amidst that flow, so your preference isn't going to be satisfied. Rest assured that the support material wont slow the flow of core rules either.
