So what future supplements do you hope to see in the future...

By Jamescuk, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I have been very giddy about this game since I got the beta in October last year, and been running it since then as well.

So far we have the Rulebook, Dice, and GM Screen are out. We have the adventure Beyond the Rim out soonish.

But what do you hope to see in the future...

Lets speculate

James

Basically the other two rule books.

Will be cool to play full fledged Jedi in two years.

Will also be cool to play rebel spies/scouts in one year.

Apart from them stuff like villains sourcebook, more details on bounty hunters, maybe even era sourcebooks (yey for the Old Republic ;) ) ...

I would like to see a Monster Manual-type supplement for things like rancor, nexu, massifs, etc.

I am sure we will see a starship book at some point too.

A player supplement detailing more universal specializations, talents, gear, races, and all the other fun bits.

I am still unconvinced that the other core rule books will have enough unique information to really make them needed for game play. While they will have a different slant, those who already have the core rules through The Edge of the Empire will be paying for 2/3rd of the book on material they already own. I had the same issue with all of the Palladium System books. Cool as they were, so much was recycled.

Besides what's already been announced:

Cardboard Token Set(s)

Monster Book, preferably with fluff told from the perspective of scholars, witnesses, victims, etc. Those are hands down the most entertaining form of creature companion. (WFRP 2nd for instance)

Setting Sourcebooks or boxed sets with maps.

Beyond that, I don't actually want to see too much in the way of character creation bloat. There will be two more books of character creation options, and the more they pump out for EotE the more likely there are compatibility or broken rules concerns to worry about. Not to mention the dreaded option paralysis.

Once Force & Destiny comes out I'd like to see sourcebooks for different eras (Old Republic, Clone Wars, Legacy).

For now:

Alien Races

Criminal Organizations book (with more player options for Bounty Hunters and Technicians)

Outer Rim Guide (with planets and player options for Colonists and Explorers)

Starship/Smugglers Guide (with options for Smuggler/Pilot types)

Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

As a gm i would like to see a bestiary, but I would also love an optional wfrp-style box of tokens to go with it. Outside of that ... any quality adventure or campaign sets that I can throw into my group's story would definitely be appreciated. A nice mix of simple published stuff like Beyond the Rim and maybe 1 big box campaign similar to what they did with Enemy Within with cool maps, handouts, special items, etc.

I would just like to see a fairly rapid release schedule...I don't really care what.

I wouldn't like to see a too rapid release schedule to be honest, otherwise we could see a slip in quality,

Very much agree.

For an excellent example of "too much, too soon," look no further than WotC's own 4th Edition D&D. New crunch every single month, both in terms of books and electronic media via the Dragon online articles (I refuse to call it a magazine).

I'd be okay with FFG releasing one high-quality product every quarter than several products of mediocre quality in that same time span.

A big book about the Outer Rim that describe planets, NPC, locales and gears with campaing hooks and seeds.

In the 40k rpg lines FFG has done a pretty good job of balancing release quality and quantity. That being said, the pace of releases will slow down considerably with each new release in the Star Wars line. If we use the 40k games as a template (Dark Heresy in particular)...

  • Core Rulebook...check
  • GM Kit...check
  • Adventure...check
  • Player Options & Gear
  • GM Setting & Organization Guide
  • Critters & Foes
  • Adventure II
  • Adventure III

--Age of Rebellion Hits--

  • Advanced Game Options (take your EotE characters into the Galactic Civil War!)

I want boxed campaign settings. Detail, detail, detail! I can come up with the story, just gimme the stuuuuuuffffff..... :P

Could the box campaign be like the plot points for deadlands line they have stared to do? I mean Shane Hensley is involved in Star Wars

Also I wouldn't mind seeing a Character sheet pack, on US paper, and bleed edge.

I'm hoping to see a book dedicated to nothing but star ships and planets.

Pretty much like a catalog for a ship dealership. And then after all of the ships, the many many planets that are now open to you!

Too bad the game isn't set a few years earlier, or FFG could publish a catalog of ships from Lando Calrissian's used dealership on Nar Shaddaa. You just couldn't expect it to include that hot rod YT-1300 he keeps in back....

Don't want a The One Ring release schedule either. No more then a year between the releases of Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny would be good for me.

Although my character is a bounty hunter, I also do plan on having a fleet at one point. Taking this from a small group of bandits to a private fleet! Haha!

Beyond, AoR and F&D what I would like to see are sourcebooks on the Empire, alliance, and the last few years of the Old Republic/Clone Wars. Then perhaps some books on the history of the Sith/Jedi relationship.

I'd love to see the following types of books...

An Aliens of the Outer Rim guide book for those of us who wish to have more Aliens/Species to play with. This could also include all those pesky creatures out there on various worlds.

A Smugglers Survivors Guide to the Outer Rim book to detail those more disreputable planetary systems that could provide us with plenty of adventure and opportunity and tying in maybe a bunch of criminal organizations along with it. Could have great advice on running a Crew and dealing with Obligations and stuff.

A Technicians Guide of Gadgets and Gizmos that could have all the rules for further customization of personal gadgets, weapons, armor and starships and droids.

A Starship and Droid Guide to the Outer Rim, either a combined book or separated into two different, smaller books. Could also be somewhat tied to a Technicians Guide.

A Bounty Hunters Guide to the Hunt, with official Bounty Hunter's Guild Membership forms and then all the ways that different bounty hunters across the Outer Rim have survived and prospered along the Edge.

A Criminal Syndicates of the Outer Rim book dealing specifically with ... duh duh duhhh ... Criminal Syndicates... and how to either fight them, or possibly join them. Also, how these different Criminal Syndicates deal with surviving in a galaxy dominated by the Imperial Empire. Black Sun would have to be include as a definite.

A The Force Users of the Outer Rim dealing with talking about the more esoteric and mysterious Force Traditions that have nothing to do with Jedi and Sith... like the sisters of Dathomir as one example.

Just some ideas...

Along with Adventures galore. :)

I'd love to see them do a campaign path of adventures that starts with Edge of the Empire and goes through to the final core book's release and afterwards. That would be epic.

I think that I have so much in the way of West End Games products and there is so much into on the internet, I am mostly interested in taking that material and converting to support the new game mechanics....mainly ships, aliens, and creatures. Planetary info has been done and redone in so many sources that it can easily be used already.

I want more maps and tokens. Particularly tokens for PCs. The Beginner Box has a good variety, but it wasn't made with all those Species from the Core Rulebook in mind.

I'd be happy with four tokens per Species, two for each gender. I like to present my players with options.

So yeah, maps and tokens.

I would love an Alien Anthology, one that details as many races as WotC's RCR edition supplement did; a book that also provides more career/specialisations would be great, too.

I would love to see monster/NPC and vehicle/ship cards. Without an electronic version of the game stuff like that can't be printed off to be used at the table so card with the info on it would be very helpful.
