I was wondering if any vets of the WEG D6 or D20/Saga versions knew of a supplement or sourcebook that had some good pointers on legitimate trade in the Star Wars universe.

I know it will be fairly easy to make myself but if someone has done all the work I wanted to port it over to EotE. I like the idea of my playing groups hiding their illicit work alongside legal work.

That is a good start - there is also a web enhancement from the WotC days, RCR edition I think. I'm not sure its for honest trade, but I think so. Download it here.

Of course you'd need to make some assumptions as to how many encumbrance equal 1 metric ton... which is no easy feat as there is no - as far as I've found - good conversion method. I've been meddling with that since beta last year when I started converting ships from WEG and d20 editions to EotE. As far as I can gather it seems silhouette has something to do with it, but there is no set conversion rate for either silhouette 4 nor 5 - although 5 seems to more often (not always) have a 1 for 1 conversion from ton to encumbrance, but silhouette does not follow this unstable assumption.

Anyway, the old WEB book linked to and the web enhancement should be a starting point I think.

I'm also trying to figure out the algorithm for the encumbarance values, it seems to be 1 Metric for 0.6 Encumbrance value at Silhoutte 4 but Silhouette 5 is a mystery so far.

Maybe the problem is that space isn't mass, but mass and volume... You can run out of space stuffing it full of feathers, but have plenty of tonnage left. Or put a small amount of stellar matter in and have tons of space left, but no lift capacity.
