Well lets hope FFG management is less . . . timid.
I swear some people must think that there are morons working for FFG. Do you really think they would have passed on making pdfs if they could have gotten the rights? Even WotC, whose pockets are deeper by a magnatude, had to pass on the option. Obviously there are costs or hoops which are untenable at this time. This can certainly change in the future, but for now we have to live with the fact that there are no pdfs for sale. I am pretty confident that if the opportunity arises, FFG will be right there taking advantage of selling pdfs.
It's not really a matter of being timid. It's expensive to hold a Star Wars license, REALLY expensive. Holding two licenses to do the books and PDFs will probably not be worth their time.
And as much as everyone hopes (with the regime change with Disney and everything) that something new will come up that will allow us to give even more money to FFG, I wouldn't hold your breath.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love a high-quality PDF. I'd pay for the same book twice. I have on other occasions. But I don't think we're going to see that deal anytime soon.
The timid comment was in response to people saying they would be afraid to discuss the issue with LFL/Disney.
I do think FFG will take advantage of selling PDFs if they get a chance, but in the mean time I will keep mentioning it because it is ridiculous for a PDF not to be offered. I know it is probably LFL's fault but in this case I am FFG's customer and they are he ones that will hear about this whether it is their fault or not. Like I said they chose to take this deal and have to live with the consequences. In their place I am sure I would have made the same deal but I would understand that the PDF issue was not going to die.
Trust me, they want to release pdfs just as much as you want them. They already know that they could sell them. Except for new people coming on to the board who are unaware of said situation, this really doesn't need to be harped on. And when comments like "living with the consequences" are made, I really don't get the impression that you understand that this was the only way they could have the license, much like WotC had it. If even they, with their much deeper pockets, could not afford to release pdfs, what makes you think FFG can fair any better? I doubt that anyone at FFG is looking at threads like this and saying "Wow, they really want pdfs, maybe we should sell them! Don't know why we didn't think of this before!" In this day and age, It is already a well-known fact that pdfs sell so I am sure if it can be arranged it will be. Saying they should release pdfs over and over again after you already know they can not at this time just makes you a broken record. You bring nothing new to the discussion.
Luckily you don't have to read the PDF discussions if you find no value in them and luckily I can comment on anything I want. Win- win.

Actually, just like you feel the need to keep repeating yourself, I enjoy retorting. So yes, win-win.

Well, seeing as how there's now a pinned thread that outright says "sorry, no PDFs anytime soon," threads like these can wither away and die to make room for stuff that's actually relevant.
Mouthymerc,
Since fjw70 has pretty much stated all he intends to do is *****, whine, and moan about the lack of PDFS, I'd suggest just ignoring him and this thread. And in fact, would extend that same suggestion to people that are sick seeing these types of threads.
Or perhaps better yet, since this issue is addressed on a pinned 'read me first' thread, these sorts of threads can simply be locked and allowed to proceed on their way to oblivion.

Knowing when not to rock the boat for a chance at something that you know is gonna cost you far more then you can pay when it could cost you the Licence or a much shorter term, is NOT timid. I believe its called common sense.

Hmmm . . . I don't recall saying this, but you seem determined to put words in my mouth. Whatever helps you out I guess.
I will stop asking for PDFs when FFG says that it is impossible and will never happen.
I suggest you go to DriveThruRPG and check out the FFG Store Front. All their PDFs are there. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=6 What you see is what you get. I just purchased their Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy lines.
They obviously like to produce PDFs for the licensed products they can.
No EotE PDFs there so it is of no use to me.
That is probably where you will find it if they do produce it at some later date.
Probably. Let me know when you see them.
