Anyone in the MD/DC area?

By danach82, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey all-

I've never really been into RPGs before, but this system looks both simple and complex at the same time (simple to play and pick up, and complex from a narrative perspective). And it's frickin' Star Wars, so yeah. Even so, I don't want to invest a lot into all the materials if I'm not sure I will have anyone to play with.

Is there anyone out there in the DC or MD area that runs a group that will play this game, and if so can I join in?

I run a group. Feel free to PM me for more info. We are play in Silver Spring and Laurel.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how PM'ing works on the new forums. Email me at ach.dan / gmail. Thanks!

hmmmm

It does not currently look like I'll be free to play or run in an Edge of the Empire game (other than the one I just started yesterday with a couple old friends, which is unfortunately not recruiting), but I'm always happy to meet more DC area gamers. Does anyone hear go to Dream Wizards in Rockville for their gaming supplies? I head there for X-Wing more or less every Wednesday, and would be happy to meet to talk EotE.

I actually live just down the road from Dreamwizards - literally like 3-4 blocks. However, I don't tend to go there as it's rather focused on M:tG and minis, two genres which do not appeal to me that much. I don't even think they are really open to gaming sessions there, since they cater to M:tG and minis so much, but if they are, I'd love to participate.

And after perusing the forum some more, I don't think there is a PM function, just a post function which didn't seem to work.

I think there's a D&D group or two that meets at DW, but they are much more focused on hosting miniatures and card games than role-playing sessions. I wasn't suggesting it as a venue for that, so much as a potential meeting place if someone wanted to chat about the game with a fellow fan. :)

I tend to head up to Games and Stuff up in Glen Burnie. Its a drive, but well worth it. Best store I have ever seen.

Heh, my wife and I go to Dream Wizards almost every weekend, and Games & Stuff about once a month or so.

Nice to see some local peeps here!

If I end up finding a way to get into EotE, I might take you up on this! :)

Savage Worlds is another rule system that is both simple and complex and is great for doing narrative type of gaming. I run a game once a week and it is rare for me to pull out minis or draw maps, even when combat gets going.

Good to hear about MD groups, I will be going back there when my Enlistment ends in a year, and was hoping to find some good game groups and stores. Pickings are a bit slim here in the UK ( good selection, but paying Pounds can be brutally expensive).

Glad to see my post resulted in some connecting. :) Thanks everyone for chiming in and I hope to see you around the gaming circuit in MD!

Oh man! I just ran an awesome game of EotE at Games n Stuff tonight! Sign up to the Heroes Guild of Maryland meetup group (meetup.com). I know for a fact, bare minimum, there will be another EotE game run at GnS on September 7th via Charm City Game Day, with info posted on the MeetUp as well
