Galaxy Planet Reference Chart

By ValiantOne, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Just wanted to know if you all would be interested in a Planet Reference Chart listing the planets and coordinates off the Galaxy map. I am willing to put in the time required to make the chart if there is any interest.

If you all want it, I will make an Excel chart so we can reference the planets by coordinates or alphabetical order.

Any other suggestions are welcomed! :)

Note: I would start as soon as I get my Core Rulebook on 07/09/13.

simply put . . . YES

The work might already have been done for you.

There is an Atlas Appendix available at starwars.com

I haven't received my core book yet so I can't confirm that they are using the same grid coordinates but it's worth a check.

Just doing a preliminary check. The Atlas in the book is a rotated version of:

http://starwars.com/vault/books/atlas/news20090910/

So the letters are up and down instead of left and right, but coordinates like U6 in both cases point to Mon Calimari Space.

I hope that the work has already been done... if not, I will get started when I get my book. :-)

IMHO having a grid "X,Y,Z" for systems is kind of useless for Star wars. Most travel is along hyperspace routes that branch off from major trade routes. unless you are doing a lot of traveling in a sector, and are under a time contraint it could, and should remain rather abstract

That isn't quite what they are talking about. Having a grid reference is useful to look up where a planet actually is. Like knowing to look in G25 for X and L16 for Y. So, you go to G25 and look at what is around said world in the grid. Same with L16 to find system Y.

So its based off the official Atlas. Nice. Then I'll just get that too :)

The atlas is an amazing reference, and I would reccomend it for anyone running a Star Wars campaign. It is helpful as a planet guide, an era guide, and a space travel guide for things like how astrogation, hyperspace, and the like all work in Star Wars. Plus, you know, all the rad maps.

Glad to know that they used the official reference to base that map on and not some arbitrary made up system. If the map is so close, I will just point people in the direction of the official canon. Makes it WAY easier! LOL :)
