Whats everyones first character going to be?

By Ken on Cape, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I will GM but my two sons are going to be a Rodian Bounty Hunter and a Wookiee FSE (not sure what the class will be yet).

Human (clone)

Bounty Hunter

Gadgeteer

My character was a young child when the Empire attacked Kamino. Survived the purge, and escaped the planet along with a hand full of other clones. Being a young child would explain how he is still alive and not a trained soldier when we start the campaign.

His Obligation is Obsession. The accelerated growth will obviously kill my character in a matter of years. So, my character is desperately searching for a cure.

His Motivation is his Comrades. He is extremely loyal to the other surviving clones who escaped with him, keeping contact.

Medical Droid with hidden Assassination 4th Degree programming.

Colonial - Doctor w/ second specialization in Assassin.

Name: DR H1-D3 (w/ hidden JK-3L Assassination programming.)

I think you have that backwards. It's Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde.

I've already had a character for a short game i was a part of during the beta phase of the game. I wish i could be a player of this game its so much fun for those who love to really get into character.

I can't deciede :|
To many options!!!

I am GMing it. But if I could make a character I would do either a scout or trader.

Played with 2 characters in beta ...

* Human, Assasin - to be gadgetter

* Wookie, Doctor with his spc. Wookish-deathgrip to stun opponents :D

also created another one ...but didnt get to play her:

* Human Thief, Force sensitive ...

Do we have Gungans yet? If not that will make playing a character harder. ;)

I tend to GM and I don't even have a group yet, but if I got to play, I am leaning towards a thief type always looking for the next big score. Maybe have a weakness for gambling. Kind of a mousy coward type too.

Thanks,

Duncan

Funny how the majority of replies here are from people who GM, but it makes sense since those are the people who would frequesnt this forum more.

Same for me here, I GM my group but have been pushing a few players to try to GM, just so they can get some rules experience.

My idea for a character is based on a character group idea. The group would be a travelling side show, carnival, but they are really sumgglers, with a great cover, travelling around in a modified Frieghter ship. My character is the death defyer, stealth, slight-of-hand, escape artist guy, the Magnificant Victor Von Trapp. Probably go assassin to start with a bit of thief thrown in, maybe politico too, if he wanted to be the front man voice too. But the group idea leaves alot of open slot ideas for other party members too...like a jawa strong man, for example. The hardest thing to figure would be "whats considered odd enough in star wars galaxy to include as a PC in a travelling carnival?"

Very clever, I missed the Jekyl/Hyde connection the first time I read it.

As I have been reading through the CharGen section I have re making my old WEG character from many years ago. A Mandolorian Bounty Hunter-Gadgeteer.

This post single-handedly makes me reconsider playing a droid. Such a great idea.

Separately, I'm also up for suggestions regarding pbp sources. I started a thread off in the roleplaying internets--hopefully it'll get some bites:

The community there does a lot of FFG/Warhammer pbp games.

Other ideas are totally welcome :).

I have been GMing the beginner box and download adventures for my friends but that has spun off into a full campaign so I won't get to play for awhile.

As soon as I got the book I made my two mans; Twilek>Smuggler>Scoundrel>Debt=Obligation Magnitude 20 and I am trying to make a Force Sensitiveness Imperial Guardsman character I tried to put together back in the WEG days but never got to play. Human+Hired Gun: Marauder+FSE is a bit anemic but will be fun to RP if I ever get to play it.

I will be DM but my first character would be a Colonial - Scholar? who is studying strange temples and objects destroyed by the Empire and feels drawn to discover more, less damaged versions on the fringe. Later they will become force sensitive and discover that the things they feel drawn to understand are from the days of the Jedi.

Human Female Thief (Cat Burglar type) on the run from an arranged marriage to a rodian crime lord. =)

One of my player has an Outlaw tech, so my first NPC built with the PC specs, was his Astromech (largely based on the one on GSA) called R3-D0 (Redo). It's a Slicer, and has no weapons per say.

Since the first 2 adventures (Shadows of a Black Sun and Trouble Brewing) the players have equipped him with a Blaster, always set on Stun, so that it can stun enemies without causing harm. ;)

I've been running EotE with a Fantasy skin on it since mid Beta, but as of a month ago, I was finally able to start playing a smart aleck human mechanic who is far luckier than he deserves to be (I have passed more horribly difficult checks that I rightly should have). It has been a ton of fun and I love the progress this system has taken since WFRP3.

For the last month,I've been playing a drug addicted trandoshan doctor that thinks he can commune withe the Scorekeeper when he is high. Game is a hoot so far... If that human mechanic doesn't get us killed that is

Sounds like a great character concept!

I will have to keep that one in mind! =)

It wouldn't be a problem if the Scoundrel (read party-face) would crank his game up a notch! Besides, I have been really, really lucky and I am sure that streak will continue long into the future... really, I am.

This idea is entirely inspired by Wraith's evil doctor droid.

Originally, I thought I'd be rolling a human scoundrel with a drinking problem or a haunted former soldier. But no.

My first character has to be:

Name: 1R0n-CH3F

Race: Droid

Type: LOM Protocol

History: Executive Chef/Poisoner (4th Degree)

Current Occupation: Bounty Hunter (Gadgeteer)

Backstory:
Originally developed as a covert assassin, 1R0N-CH3F's primary programming was that of a protocol droid with a culinary programming. Mild-mannered and skilled, "CH3F" was able to mask his illicit poisoning subroutines well for many decades, faithfully serving his aristocratic owners in their constant political intrigues.

Over time, however, CH3F's logic and speech cores suffered a fair amount of degradation and corruption, ultimately resulting in his assassin programming bleeding through into his recipe and food preparation memory banks. As a result, CH3F developed a peculiar habit--when assigned a target for assassination, CH3F will verbally recount the many methods of preparations and recipes for cooking and serving the being in question. Needless to say, CH3F was no longer suitable for covert operations.

Now, CH3F exists as a licensed bounty hunter. His cheerful disposition and sing-song delivery of his morbid recipes as he slays and butchers those who stand before him have resulted in a particularly notorious and gruesome reputation. Despite his protocol origins, 1R0N-CH3F has a presence of 1.

I like it! I might have to use him as an NPC in my game (if I ever get the chance to run it). Please, post the stats when you get them done.

I will play a privateer who is a one hundred percent legitimate business woman. The court ruled all my seizures were completely lawful.

Man, this thread is refreshing and inspiring to read.

Back in the SAGA days, you'd ask people about their character and they'd be like, "he's a Thisclass 7/Thatclass 3/Theotherclass 1, who carries a modified SoAndSo rifle and uses the Whatever feat a lot."

People are actually getting excited about their characters' (unquantifiable) personalities again... I love it. :D

Exactly the reason I am not a big fan of the D20 system. Characters are just a bunch of numbers on a sheet; EotE allows for actual character building.

Going to be playing my first character in a few days. Woot!

I am a Twi'lek Slicer (hacker) who has a vendetta against the Empire since a squad of Stormtroppers killed his sister with a stray blaster shot without even an acknowledgement. He has lost all sense of reason in his current pursuits. He left his service with the local Hutts (without informing them of his departure) and pursued a life to "take down the Empire by any means necessary". He is young and brash and thinks that leaking their information or corrupting some of their databases will accomplish this. Unfortunately he has recently discovered that the Hutt wants him back in his employment.
