Joining the winning team by being L.I.T.A.S

By The Thing In The Attic, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

The mission Joining the Winning Team states that you have to go into Lost In Time And Space, (L.I.T.A.S), and sacrifice an ally to win the game.

I take it this card doesn't allow you to enter L.I.T.A.S under it's own power, and the fact is that you have to somehow legally, (through legitimate encounters, or by being insane or unconcious in another world), enter the L.I.T.A.S space on the board.

I presume that you would strive to fail an encounter in an other world that as the failure penalty would boot you into L.I.T.A.S.

That is correct, you cannot arbitrarily go to LiTaS but find a legitmate way there.

Cast Deny the AO, etc at 1 sanity!

Yeah there are also weird encounters in Arkham that send you there.

If you can convince someone who is 1 turn away from closing/sealing a Gate to close it after you go in, you have a chance to end up leaving Other World without having a viable Gate, and go to Lost in Time and Space.

Spellcast with low sanity. Guaranteed way of going insane.

As has already been noted, spellcasting in the Other World while at low Sanity is probably the best way to become Lost in Time and Space. That's assuming you don't have a Dimensional Shambler or Yithian on the board; either one provides easy access to LiTaS. An encounter at the Unnameable will also get you there, but the odds of being lucky enough to draw it are slim (as opposed to how easy it is to get the four Allies in the first place :) ).

Tickle a Dimensional Shambler.

Riiiiiight. "Tickle."

Having actually completed JtWT (only 3 of those listed in the last Stats update), I did it by jumping Leo Anderson into an OW with his Will maxed, hoping to pick a fight. 1st encounter wasn't what I wanted. 2nd one was a monster appears and I drew Colour Out of Space for it. Having Fight at 1 when the monster has 2 Toughness got Leo LiTaS. Of course, this can backfire, but then you can always quick-express yourself back to the OW. Decline to close, next turn just move away from the gate to remove Explored and move back.

Looking at the stats, seems I had Mandy and Kate Winthrop in that game (along with Leo and Bob), so would've probably had some spell to mess around with.

So you played a solo game, a shame because the effect and impact of the card is greatly lessened in a solo player game. No; perhaps i should say the impact of the card changes with the games player dynamics, consider this:

In a multiplayer game the card is to be feared by all players not holding it, suspician and mistrust are prolific. One player will win through cowardice and treachery, and dare i say it murder, while all others perish.

but in a solo player game the card becomes a shining beacon of hope, a chance to end the Ancient Ones threat once and for all where selfless sacrifice of the investigators aid the greater cause.

Most of my games are solo games with 4 investigators. Can't be helped preocupado.gif .

Even in a multiplayer game, if it the game starts going badly, but 1 player/investigator is in a position to complete JtWT before everyone loses, I would not mind trying to help him/her get it done, killing monsters to open paths to locations/gates, etc. I see it as no different than 4 players in final combat, only 1 survives and the GOO is beaten. He'll given posthumous kudos to the fallen 3. Same thing with JtWT, though different kind of kudos, I'm sure partido_risa.gif .

I was up against Azathoth in the game I did JtWT, so it wasn't really "shining beacon of hope", more like, hmm, I actually have a shot at this, do I go for it instead of going through the standard motions as I'll seal Azathoth easily anyway.

Whether solo or multiplayer, if the ultimate choice is between 0 winners vs 1 winner, even if via JtWT, 1 winner is better in my book.

Yes, but remember that it registers as a loss on the stats page!

You joined Azathoth! How nice. BTW Earth is a cinder now, thanks

Dang, my lobby to get it listed as a win still stuck in red tape gran_risa.gif ?

It's not a win and you know it. Cthulhu shouldn't be considered easier overall statistically because you joined him and helped him wreck New England!

Just be happy that I used a different color to highlight JtWT on the stats view page.

Card says "You win the game." You're using thematic reasons to back your POV gui%C3%B1o.gif .

As to the different color, with only 3 of them listed, it isn't hard to search for "winning" to find my session cool.gif .

Yes. Well, in a game with more than 2 investigators, more people will lose the game than win. So it's more than just theme and POV. I back it mostly on statistics grounds.

JtWT is a good way to discard Bain and get him back demonio.gif

Conversely, a JtWT win in a single-investigator game is indistinguishable from other types of wins (1 investigator wins, 0 lose). Come to think of it, the same is true of Nyarlathotep's "Join Me!" sinister plot.

Hey, Earth in cinders is better than having Avi's team rule over it, nyah lengua.gif ! Also, based on the last sentence, Avi's been watching anime too much of late gui%C3%B1o.gif .
