Google Chrome Netrunner Extension

By Gremdel, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

Hello everyone, I created a Google Chrome extension called Netrunner Lookup that I think will help people grok Netrunner articles.

How it works: you hit the credit icon and it will scan the text for card names (and my best guess for likely substitutes like Kate, Gabe, etc). Then it replaces those card names with links to netrunnercards.info (if they are already links, those links are not replaced) and it adds a tooltip popup with the card image. In addition, if there's a card name that the scanning missed (for example, DataRaven instead of Data Raven), you can select it and right click. You will then get a list of suggested card names and if you pick a card name, it will do the replace and tooltip thing.

A lot of credit goes to Alsciende of netrunnercards.info . His website provides an API that makes the extension possible and it was his idea to include the "select and search" feature.

Thanks to everyone who's checked it out and given feedback! If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to message me here or on BGG (where I'm BookandGame ). Here's a thread where I started testing and in a few minutes I'll post an official release on BoardGameGeek.

Just wanted to let you know this is awesome. Very very useful.

Thanks! It's been fun, more than 650 users! I just released a new version that makes things go quite a bit faster if you haven't checked it out before.

Seriously, this is some nice work. For someone like me who just bought the game and goes on various website and forum to learn strategy and more, your extension is simply amazing. I even registered on this forum to tell you this. Keep up the good work. Only thing that cold make this better is if you had a banner going on the card image saying from which core, expansion or data pack the card is from. Sure it is easy enough for the core and extension with their own icons on the card but for the data pack, it require you to dig a bit more to find out from which one it comes from. Anyway, just a thought I had, keep up the good work.

Wow! This is a great extension! Makes following the deck section super easy!

Any chance of porting this to firefox?

@Guibs: I have some tentative plans for adding a text version that would include that information. Might be a little bit until I get around to doing that.

@booored: I started working on a Firefox version but got frustrated with it and set it aside for a while. It wouldn't let me inject the popup Javascript I think, not really sure why it wasn't working.

Thanks to everyone who's checked it out, I'm glad people are finding it useful!
