Storage for your fleets

By Kevas, in X-Wing

Although I do not have any of the KR foam, I see the "wasted space" as where I would put a small bags with the all of the standards tokens needed to fly that craft, and it's maneuvar dial. I prefer to have each stored vessel be as "complete" as it can be. Having it assembled and all of the relevant tokens separated saves time setting up. And likewise not having to sift through tokens of other craft I am not using.

Had KR marketed their tray that way, showing vessel and tokens neatly stored together and ready, their product would have been better received.

I bring that up because, other than the Battlefoam foam for the core set, there is very little room to store the tokens.

I would like to see a "package" that has foam for the vessels and a thought-out tray for token organization, that neatly scales based on Core-Set (all cards, move templates, range rulers - with room for the future) and then by wave (#1, #2, #3)

I personally just want foam for my minis. Using foam for anything else feels like waste to me. I don't want foam slots for my tokens as I just intend to find a separate organizer to suit my needs. Battlefoam cases are my go to choice but I play a number of other table top war games and use it to accommodate all of them.

The ships having to be standing isnt optimal, but I have yet to find a set of foam that comes with a good box made just for it. Everything else I have seen is stand alone and that is not my idea of good protection. I will admit absolutely the standing ship is a waste of space.

Take a look at the Battlefoam kits. The two layer setup is sized for their Pack 216, and holds more ships than you'll ever need, with the possible exception of a second Falcon. I got the 432, which is still reasonably sized and has all sorts of future expansion potential.

It's certainly more expensive than the KR, but I think the foam is better, the cuts are better, and it doesn't waste anywhere near as much space.

Which inserts did yo get for the 432?

I have one set of the custom X-wing trays for the 216. For the rest, at the moment I'm using the pluck foam that came with it. One thick tray is just filler, and one other I pulled out to add my tokens case, a small Tupperware container I use for pegs (which tended to fall through the cracks otherwise) and a set of TopoSolitaro's containers from Shapeways.
