First session in the books!

By Mark It Zero, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I just finished my first session of EotE using Escape From Mos Shuuta with most of the training wheels removed. It was a big hit, and loads of fun! My group consisted of a few experienced gamers, and two newbies to the hobby. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. Even better, the most skeptical of the two was quite pleasantly surprised.

Some fun highlights (spoilers maybe):

* After a hilariously poor attempt to hide from the Gamorreans, the group "decided" to fight instead. During which various adventurous deeds ensued. The mechanic narrowly avoided being maced by perfume. The bounty hunter chose to keep her day job, for a cantina dancer she was not! The Wookie un-wedged himself from the rather cramped booth in which he had chosen to try and hide. He then proceeded to do what Wookies do and lead a brutal charge against the group's pursuers. To top it off, the smuggler shot first.

* After a hilariously poor attempt to deceive the junk shop owner, the Wookie pretended to fancy crushing the shopkeeper's skull, and convinced him to give up the part they needed. Afterward he immediately went to inform the guards what had happened, a second group of Gamorreans are on their way.

* They managed to successfully lie their way past a couple security droids, only to hilariously botch their attempt at uncoupling the Krayt Fang from the docking bay. The Wookie proceeded to rip the head from a nearby security droid and use it as a projectile, killing a second droid with it. The team took a few licks but has managed to subdue the Overseer, just as a group of menacing Storm Troopers embarks from an Imperial ship.

That is where we left off. I can't wait for the next session!

Your enthusiasm is infectious! I can't wait to play the game myself.

Just wrapped up my version of Escape From Mos Shuuta! This book needs to hurry! Sadly it sounds like the dice might delay my order. :(

On the upside, the player's managed to narrowly avoid destruction thanks to the enemy rolling our very first Despair, and accidentally hitting his ally with what would have been a crippling strike on the party's ship!

So rather than dig right into char gen we will see what I can do with Long Arm Of The Hutt. :D

Man, sounds like a blast. I just got the Core Book, but I am gonna run this adventure with the beginner box rules, then start folding in the Core once they start the Long Arm of the Hutt, and hopefully be completely on Core by the end of that. That is how I did my Pathfinder game (Beginner box slowly turning into Core Rulebook over the first two adventures), and it worked really well.

I'm planning my game in just a week. After seeing your post can't wait to see what my players will do.

Very awesome. I ran a follow up game without using Long Arm of the Hutt. The players went to an Ithorian herd ship orbiting Rodia and took jobs as a yacht's deck hand to earn money so they could pay outlaw techs to change the Krayt Fang's BoSS transponder after their escape from Mos Shuuta.

This was my first home made EotE adventure. It worked awesomely and the players enjoyed it.

If you have time to spare, you can read about it here.

I will check it out! One of my new players came over last night, and again made mention that he really enjoyed playing. He's the guy who was the most skeptical of gaming, so it's pretty awesome that he enjoyed it so much. So it definitely looks like Long Arm of the Hutt is on the horizon, since I teased it at the end of the last game.

I will mine your write up for secondary ideas in case the hooks for LAotH don't grab them.

I am using the adventure from the beginers box as well when my group starts tonight. Originally I was going to have the players use the pregens, but with the book being out today and our store confirming that they will have the books instock this afternoon I will have the players spend the first hour writing up their characters.
