AP9 is out- no Troll and Toad review?

By Hastur, in CoC General Discussion

I was surprised to find AP9 already in my local stores yesterday. Usually there is a review of the pack on here or Boardgamegeek before it releases. I hope he hasn't stopped doing them: I enjoy seeing his review of the APs.

I think the whiplash pace is startling to most of us. How ironically awesome is that? We spend five years anticipating each release, the last few years at what felt like an excruciatingly slow and erratic pace. And now, with Julia III, those who'se packs were heretofore postmarked pre-release, can't keep up. Let's face it, no one yet has the cards. Likewise, the financial outlay may affect the pace of purchase. There's also the fact that we're not up against some new LCG tourney time line, which would have been nice. But cthulhu world is just not that big. The FFG machine would be cool with a world scale schedule and tournament brackets.

I have to say, I'm begining to miss the old days of booster packs with these things coming out so fast. You take a vacation or spend a month working on some project and you're behind the times already! I wouldn't mind just having a bigger boxed set featuring all of the cards once every 6 months instead!

That implies that more will follow the Summons of the Deep six AP. Hope so. But there's been no word.

I'm a little miffed that my FLGS's suppliers over here sold out before they even got an order in.

I'm really interested to see stats for The Sleepwalker!

As long as all six packs remain available for some time, it's ok to fall behind. I hope they can do this once per year. Is twice unthinkable? LCG seems the right name now that we're inside the chapters. It's less dense than days of old. I wonder where this 20 card form is headed?

if they only plan on 6 a year they should only release them every other month. we'll hit a dry spell and then another flood. id rather a constant stream.

If FFG deems LCG successful and plans a second LCG release, with or without a core expansion, it is probably meant to work out to feel cyclical and not just a huge gap half the year. I haven't checked closely, but maybe the packs have been coming out every month and a half. Tournament season could buy a couple more months.

They haven't arrived from my distributor yet. Hmm, I better get on the phone make sure someone hasn't made a mistake. I plan on doing the same spoiler. Should I triple post?
