Portland Oregon Regionals

I ran Han Solo + Marksman + Gunner and Chewbacca + Push the Limits + Falcon

Game #1

VS Chewbacca+ Veteran Instinct + Gunner + Falcon Rank 2 X wing and Rookie Y Wing + Ion Cannon + R2D2

Game rounds were very fast. 2 moves in and I took out is X wing, As we bumped our Chewbacca's together. I use Han to Burn Down his Chewbacca and Then made quick work of his X wing. It didn't take long before his Y wing was finished on Game turn 6. The round was over in 15 minuets out of 65.

2nd Game.

4 Rookie X wings with shield upgrades. 100pts.

I moved up the right side of the board as he had setup on his Right in a Checker Board formation. Like the blue angles he use a hard 3 turn and rolled up on my Chewbacca. He was set up at range 2 with 2 x wings and range 3 with 2 more. I was a major error but as he rolled in perfect formation I would say I never saw that he would be able to bring all 4 around the asteroids line like he did.

He put over 14 shots in to Chewbacca burning him down to 3 damage left after rolling 3 out of 4 dodges and my evade from the Falcon upgrade. Chewbacca die on the next turn.

Han Solo fought well for the next 4 turn using hard one turns to avoid letting all the x wings to get a shot on him. I was able to kill off 2 X wings but he did roll over 80% dodge during the match and 90% hits.

1-1

Round 3

Boba Fett/Firespray-31 (39)

Seismic Charges (2)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Gunner (5)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Krassis Trelix/Firespray-31 (36)

Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Seismic Charges (2)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Well played match. He was able to get use of both bombs but I was able to corner Boba Fett in turn 4 and chew him up. I rolled on to Krassis and over the next 5 turns kill off his last ship.

I had battled him in the Dice Age Vancouver Regional too and he did 10 time better this match other than splitting up his units on turn 4.

2-1

Match 4

Han Solo/YT-1300 (46)

Marksmanship (3)

Concussion Missiles (4)

Gunner (5)

Rookie Pilot/X-Wing (21)

Rookie Pilot/X-Wing (21)

This Player came out of now were. He was a new player to X wing and he was 3-0 when I fought him. We closed fast and I kept both Falcons in a very tight formation. As I moved in I was able to pick apart his X wings before they could get a shot off. It took a few more turn to kill his Han Solo. He did get a missile strike on Chewbacca for 3 hits. From the reports of other players he beat he used the missile for maximum damage each game. With Han Solos Re Roll the missile turned out to be a nice addition.

3-1

Well the rounds ended. And I was 3-1 with 5 other players. Due to some luck I was ranked #1 due to Strength of schedule from the players I beat won more rounds than other players.

I was shocked to come in #1 due to we had expected some one to be un defeated as we saw in other regionals .

The only issue I had at the end of the Tournament is that Guardian Games In Portland was the only store not to give out gift certificates with the extra buy in money. We all know it cost about $120 for the game kit but with a $25 dollar entry fee we should have seen $105 go back to the players as prizes. Every other store in the region did this and we know it ended up with more money spent from each player. This kind of left a bad taste in my mouth with this host of the event.

Actually I think the Regional Kits were $175. But still it would have been nice to see some of the profit turned back to the players.
