Best encounter with long playtime

By Elf_Ranger, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi everyone,

l'll be having some friends round for a game of Descent, only one has played Descent before, but the other 2 have played dungeon crawlers so shouldnt be problems with them picking up the mechanics.

I was thinking of skipping the quick and simple introduction encounter and getting right into a game, but what encounter would people recommend with some potential for good lengthy gameplay?

I would recommend you to start a campaing, where you will play 9 quests over more than 30 hours. Most quests are short in terms in maps size and other criteria like that, but they do take a bit of time to finish if both parties are new to the game and don't know the quests.

The longest scenario I did was one from the Lair of the Wyrm. Don't remember the name, but it was the one with the ettins and ore mining. Took my group nearly two hours to complete that one.

Try an interlude - those tend to be a little longer in length... maybe. they seem like it - but then again - a 2 part encounter might take longer in total.

but - There is one in the base box that was a ton of fun when I played it. If I recall there is a waterfall and you can jump down etc at one point. Was a ton of fun and a bit longer of a quest.

Thanks very much for all the replies, I will look over these scenarios and see which one I think they will enjoy most.
