Inside Job:

"Make a run. Bypass the first piece of ice encountered during this run."

My question is about Kit using Inside Job on her first run: If I bypass the first ICE, does Kit's ability become active (and wasted) on this piece of ICE? Or does bypassed ICE in not considered as "encountered" and the second ICE on that server will gain "code gate"?

Recent article about Shapers from Creation&Control suggest Inside Job will be helpfull and that the second ICE will become code gate:

"Naturally, the Corp will respond by installing and rezzing additional layers of ice. That’s fine. That’s where Kit benefits from the rest of her skills and tools. Cards like Tinkering (Core Set, 37) and Inside Job (Core Set, 21) allow Kit to work her way through loaded servers,"

The flavor article is misleading, I think - you have to encounter the ice to bypass it. Thus, the ice bypassed with Inside Job will be the one given the code gate subtype by Kit's ability.

Concur with Radi. Going by the wording if you use Inside Job you pass the ICE that becomes a codegate. If the wording had been something like "bypass the first piece of ICE you would have encountered", it would be another matter.
