Is it bad?

By 158hoff, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Just wanted to see if anyone is in the same position as me. I have the core set, all the deluxe expansions and every battle pack except for the two newest ones and still haven't been able to play. My ten-year-old can barely handle X-Wing so I'm thinking the game is too complex for him and the same goes for my wife, she likes things simple. They don't even sell the LCG's at my closest gaming store so finding other players is impossible. Anyone else in that same boat? If so do you still find ways to play?

I know kids younger than 10 that play Invasion, why don't you just give it a try?

That your FLGS doesn't carry Invasion doesn't mean it's impossible to find local players. You can still put up a note there, at other likely places (campus?), or find them online.

It might not be your thing, but there's also OCTGN for online play.

I would definitley give it a try with your son, my 9 year old plays with me all the time.

As far a players go I used to be in your boat. I wrote an article about this you might want to take a look at reir :

10 steps to building a Warhammer Invasion community

How can I get ahold of a game night kit to get one of those cool Warhammer posters?

My 8 year old loves the game and asks to play a lot. He Evan beats me once in a while. In fact, just last night, he ended me with End Times.

Pick a night and a shop and let FFG know what you are doing and they will probably send you one. They did for me.

@magehammer

i know we live several hours away from each other, but we really need to make it a point to attend the next event that is remotely somewhere in between and make a family invasion event happen!

Yup, same here. My friend is lazy to do some deckbuilding and in fact, we played only a few times and he didn't want me to bring it again since then. A few days ago we have contacted another boardgaming group in our city and one of them wanted to play W:I. He likes the WHF universe and is interested in the game, so there may be a chance that I can sometimes actually play the game instead of just letting it collect the dust on my shelf.

@kaine82

I thought about attending your Cataclysm event, but it is scheduled for the same weekend as our annual family and friends golf outing. I have to be there. Ugh. Anyway, I think we will meet across the table eventually.

By the way, I really like the articles on W:I at your website. Good reads!

@magehammer

We haven't actually scheduled an exact weekend for that yet. It really depends on when it is released in July. I know for sure it won't be the first weekend though, one of our regulars will be out of town and I told him we'd wait.

If you are serious about coming we'd definitely schedule around anyone willing to drive. The event would be on a Friday night, but if you needed somewhere to crash I have an air matress with your name on it sonreir .

@158hoff

Also, meetup.com is a great resource for building a community and I can't recommend it enough. Getting hte site was a pivotal point in our groups's development.

I will file it under 'maybe'

It is not so much me that needs convincing but my beautiful wife…

I hear that! If not this one there will be plenty more in the future.

Good to hear. I really want to win a playmat.
