Very positive feedback to the beginner game…

By MortaSidhe, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beginner Game

I announced my intent to run the beginner game module at my local game store, and the news was met with much "meh". The day came and only one person showed up, so I had to do some carnival barking to get 2 more people in the store to fill out the group. All 3 players were giving me the "this better not suck" face as I dove right in, no rules tutoring, no book to read, no explanation of the dice first, I just started reading the crawl!

2 hours later, I had three people asking me if I could run a campaign for them as soon as the book hits shelves.

You have a winner on your hands, FFG, make some noise about it!

Sounds pretty good! I will probably be running this as a break from my The One Ring game (players are craving more action to break up the RP heavy world of Middle Earth for a bit), and this sounds like the perfect game for it.

I am 100% with you on this. I finally got to run the beginner box adventure with my usual group (only ever played d20 stuff) and when we were done everyone was asking me "ok so what's next?" I really wanted to run the long arm of the hutt but didn't pre-read it so that couldn't happen. I knew we were on to something when I noticed that when we took breaks, we were still discussing the game as opposed to our normal "so the other day…." Kind of normal stuff. I love it and look forward to many more sessions!

My group has had the same reactions as all of yours, and personally it's the RPG that's got me interested in paying/running RPGs again. I've been out for nearly 20 years, this game brought me right back in!!

We're having a blast and can't WAIT for the RB, screen and dice this July! I've been pillaging older D20 adventures for play material, and have written some really fun adventures to fill the time till the official stuff arrives.

MORE, FFG, MORE!!!

OK, update on this. I finally got my book, screen and dice last night. The irony is, I caused such a stir in the game store for this game that they had to order up to meet the demand. They went from selling nothing to selling out. I love it that there is such excitement from everyones groups!

Agreed Morta, my usual pathfinder group went along with me because I really wanted to play this game. By the time we were done, THEY really wanted to play it.

The dice throws alot of people off, but once you get the hang of it and appreciate how it lends to telling the story, seasoned RPers and GMs realllllly appreciate it.

I did the beginners game with three 11 year old girls (my daughters and a friend) It took a couple of days but they LOVED it and we are progressing to the Core Rulebook now.

I figure that I should start 'em young, in fact I wish I was that young when I started RPG's.
