Excellent preview. And looking at the Lambda in its box, it strikes me that FFG had to design it so that the wings would fold… otherwise, it wouldn't fit in a regular Large box! ![]()
As a die hard Interceptor user, the first thing I noticed was the stress eating shuttle. Tur can take PTL now and Soontir is not limited to a green move every turn.
I think taking Navigator on Boba will see him used a bit more. Change your bank manouver to any other bank on your dial is impressive, doubly so if there is also an Intelligence agent in your squad.
Blaster having to use a focus to fire balances the 360 arc of fire.
Vader….. I don't see it yet… If you were desperate for a crit and had plenty of spare hull/shields i guess.
I can see some Rebels shoot first lists with Roark and swarm tactics.
X wings and YTs with Jan and Expose will be throwing 6 dice at range 1!
I love this game!

I think Vader seems pretty powerful. It could make big difference by helping you get rid of an important ship early in the game, or by helping you move from a modified win to a full win late in the game. Definitely comes at a cost, but its being optional and guaranteed makes it worth it, at least sometimes.
The thing with Vader is, consider him with say, a Firespray that can take secondary weapons. You fire your missile/torpedo, and you get the enemy ship down to 1 hull left. With Vader you can kill it outright, and it will cost you 2 damage (and well, 3 squad points.) Or maybe you did deal a crit, and you desperately wanted it to be a Direct Hit so it would finish off that ship. But it wasn't. Vader punishes you for your failure to destroy it outright, then he destroys it.
He gives you a little bit of wiggle room, but at a cost.
I agree/stated it comes at a cost, but I think it could be worth it, at least from time to time. How often do people do damage to their own ship with their own missiles or mines? Hopefully not often, but sometimes it can be worth it (for example, it could prevent an attack that could lead to one or two damage, anyway… plus all future attacks from that ship). I look forward to giving it a try.
Vader+ gunner + fire control system on a lambda is going to be disgusting. Lambda moves, focuses and shots, not spending it’s focus, it misses, Vader activates and damages the enemy, fire control activates to give a free focus, gunner activates and lambda shoots again, using lock and focus and then if the enemy is still standing Vader again. Costly, but oh my god would I hate to be a tricked out Tycho or Wedge.
I really like saboteur and navigator, recon was spoiled awhile ago but it also looks vey cool. I’m not too impressed with intelligence agent though I know there will be some uses for it. Mostly in knowing if your low skill ships would be better served focusing on defense or attack.
Anti pursuit lasers look fun, and might give the outer rim smuggler a nice boost if they place themselves cleverly. An intelligence/navigator combo would be good there.
Blaster turret looks great. I can’t wait to fly Garven and Dutch with an ion supporting two grays packing these.
Funny thing I’d like to point out, wouldn’t it have been better in the rebel sample list to give Jan the ion and Kyle the blaster? Ion would only receive an accuracy boost from Jan’s ability but not the added damage output and Kyle with recon and moldy would almost always have a spare focus lying around for the blaster and wouldn’t have to rely as much on performing greens as Jan would since her pilot ability stresses her out.
In case you hadn't noticed, the sample lists are not always the greatest of ideas. They get the ideas started. They often have typos. On this one, they didn't even spell Soontir Fel correctly.

They corrected the mispelling ;-)
I used to run 2 X-wings, an A-wing and a Y-wing, but it looks to me like a B-wing will replace the Y-wing… I am very anxious to get my hands on one of them. I was quite impressed with the A-wing's manuverability, and how extensive my missile armory is (Homing, Concussion, Cluster… I like Cluster :3), now if I can load advanced homing torps on both a B-wing and one of my X-wings, my brother's Slave I will not be much of a problem.
I wonder who the named B-wing pilots are?
ST-321 modification card.

Hmm. Not as impressive as I thought it will be. But it may do some trick with Colonel Jendon's ability (at the start of Combat Phase, you may assign 1 of your blue lock tokens to a friendly ship at Range 1 if it does not have a blue target lock token).
Oh, and full image of Captain Jonus:

It's like - take me and another bomber ;D It can be fine with every missile/torpedo loaded ship, especially the one carrying Cluster Missiles (boosts both attacks). Also it can help Steele gain more crits.
EDIT: To think how much it can boost Trelix with HLC oO Roll 4 dice, reroll 3 of them (2 by Jonus, 1 by Trelix), then focus if needed.
Both images found at http://www.afewmaneuvers.com
Capt. Jonus with a TIE Bomber wingman shooting advanced torps would be fun.
*paces around*
Where are the other B-wing pilots???
