Custom Items, Allies and Skills

Vampire blade seems cool it has a good benefit but it also has a possible sacrifice when using it. It also dosn't seem to overpowerd to me but I'm still a little new to the game. happy.gif

Alien artwork seems like a good idea but it seems that it might be better as like a wall rubbing or something. More primitive but still a great idea.

I am still a little new so I don't no anything about the aquatic areas yet they may be in an expansion I haven't yet seen. So I can't say anything about the boat idea.

I like the idea of a supernatrual ally but wouldn't it be cool to have the other one join you as well because you know in the show they are usally together and stuff it just seems if you get one you should get the other as an ally too. And his brother could give you a +1Lore bonus. I also think supernatrual is cool too. I'm surprised somone hasn't done a whole expansion with the show adding new items allies and unique items based of the show.

Great stuff.

The first set of Anti-dilution Allies!

Lucas Mackey is the treasury agent who helps the protagonist (or PC) in most Innsmouth-related media.

James Gardner is the archeologist on the Clive Expedition from the Masks of Nyarlathotep Campaign.

Dingby is the klutzy deputy from Arkham who can occasionally be found in Dunwich. His Ally card is based on this Bishop's Brook Bridge encounter,
"Deputy Dingby strides pass you with purpose, heading for Osborn's. Make a Luck (-1) check . If you fail, he trips over a stone and his gun goes off, nearly shooting an innocent bystander and sending women and men running. Sadly, it seems the Deputy has sprained his ankle. Sighing, you help him back to the Police Station. Move to the Police Station and have an encounter there. If you pass, he manages to avoid the stone, thanks to your warning and tosses you $1 for your trouble."
I made it non-spawn monsters because spawn monsters tend to be swarms without a single weak point, e.g., Child of Abhoth, Riot, Servant of Glaaki, etc. And I gave him a -2 Luck bonus to help characters with high luck to fail Luck checks .

Bah sorry about the previous post was in a hurry and cut and paste didnt want to work hope this works better.

It's interesting... Quite powerful. It lets you gain probably around ten clue tokens, and have a way to instantly destroy one of your characters (after trading away all items of course). I'd probably make it cost eight dollars.

I can see what you're saying. After testing this out a little against my other world deck figuring an average of four uses before being devoured I find that there is considerably less sanity loss in the "other" encounters than I had thought. You are almost guaranteed being delayed and losing stamina but you don't have a very high risk of an unexpected instakill unless you happen to draw a nightmarish monster. I'm thinking of lowering it to 1 clue per use since you also have about a 50/50 chance of a beneficial effect on the encounter. One of my test draws drew 13 clues in 4 draws shaving it down would still have made 9.

There are some deep flavors going on in the next cards you'd have to be blind not to see them:

p.s. please stop hating on me

Blessed Katana is overpriced (I'm pretty sure— this is just an intuitive guess, I haven't fully done the math). I liked the corrupted blade, unfortunately, I don't print custom items.

Piece of advice, if you want people to stop "hating on you," phrases like "you'd have to be blind not to see." Not only does it come off as arrogant even if people agree with you, it is an insult to anyone who disagrees with you.

Is Blessed Katana overpriced? Is it? If you combine it with a blessing to it along with Grapple you get a success at 2 and up . That's insane.

If you combine anything with blessing and grapple it's quite powerful. The question is, is being restricted to a +4 bonus worth it.

Even without any of these things, isn't +4 that adds 1 to every die is like at least +6 without it? So worse case scenario it's Sword of Glory, and you can upgrade it if you get blessed.

Actually, it's exactly like a +6 statistically, in a best case scenario. Arguably it's a bit worse because you can't take as much of a risk with it due to the low number of dice it gives you. And you can also upgrade a Sword of Glory by being blessed. However, you're not considering something else. You still only get four dice from it (which really matters if you're fighting something with a lot of horror damage— you might be willing to take a hit on stamina, but not on sanity).

It doesn't really matter to me, I don't use custom items anyways. Personally, I don't remember the last time I bought a Sword of Glory, though I enjoy drawing it for free (I consider it overpriced as well).

What? Blapshemy! Sword of Glory is NOT overpriced. It's the best weapon in the game (IMO).

Also you said you don't print items yet you reply on them. Why don't you do the same with investigators? (you did used to reply on investigators).

Anyway trying my luck with items that got ignored in the new thread :/

Probably overpowered. Probably.

I thought Kraken was interesting, but it's still blurry.

Out of time. Bye.

A remake:

p.s. I wonder why we don't have skills "+2 to combat checks/+2 to evade checks" etc. Wouldn't be overpowered, but pretty powerful.

Clarification: "Black path" means if a crescent comes out in black. This is true even if Death doesn't actually move (say, because he's in the sky and no investigator is in a street area)

Rumors! :)

Oops. R'lyeh Rising is a gate burst.

The crescent in The Dunwich Horror should be black and the plus white.

These are a few tools I've created.

I kinda like the first two rumors but not the last two : I don't like the double doom mechanic actually and the design for mass hysteria.

Surprised the following skills aren't real:

Sanity: +1 Maximum Sanity
Stamina: +1 Maximum Stamina
Focus: +1 Focus
Combat: +2 Combat checks
Evade: +2 Evade checks
Horror: +2 Horror checks
Spell: +2 Spell checks

And a skill that would be cool to have:

Harsh Training: -1 Maximum Stamina
Any Phase: Exhaust to reroll a Skill check

I liked the idea of the cursed item mentioned earlier in this thread, so I thought I'd try coming up with my own. The first version is the truly cursed item, the second is just a risky one. I think items with a big pay off and a big risk works well in AH. Below the Ring is the monster the ring 'spawns.' Thoughts? Overpowered? not good enough, or worth the risk? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Oops it's the other way around- 2 empty hands is the highest bonus and 0 empty hands is the lowest
