Couple questsions about damage and combat

We tried playing the bb tonight and we have a few questions about combat.

Exactly how does the damage work? I know you use the damage stated for the weapon type but then you add 1 more damage per success?

Do the bad guys do that as well? or do they just get to do the weapon damage?

How much damage does a stun grenade do and what "area" does it affect?

Also one last question, can anyone use any weapon? or do you have to have 1 rank in it?

Feel free to give an examples in your answer to clearly explain. I plan on printing this out and taking to the group.

Yes. Page 15 of Rule book, 4th Paragraph under "Pool results and dealing damage": When making a combat check, after calculating overall success each remaining success result adds +1 damage to a successful attack. If the attack affects multiple targets, the additional damage is added to each target.

Table 5-1 on page 33:" 6 damage and a special of Disorient 3, Stun Damage, Blast 6, Limited ammo". It does 6 damage to the target and if you have two advatage you can ativate the blast and do 6 damage to each character engaged with the target. It only does stun damage tho which means it only damages strain

Also one last question, can anyone use any weapon?

Yes

or do you have to have 1 rank in it?

No. Having ranks just allow's you to upgrade your ability dice.

Page 21 of Beginner rule book: A character who has not spent XP to increase a skill is considered unskilled. This character has a value of 0 for the skill in question, so would make checks using that skill without any proficency dice

Where does it say that the blast special is triggered with 2 advantages? I see "NA" listed on the weapon chart for some reason.

But the book also mentions you can miss your attack but trigger the Blast with 3 advantages.

But I'm still not confident in that. Seems like the chart should have a2 or 3 for Crit.

All active special abilities on weapons are activated with two Advantage unless specifically counteracted in the description of that property.
