Hi,
We were playing a game yesterday and it was the 10th turn. A defending army was forced to retreat from a territory and was able to choose a neutral unoccupied castle territory. By castle I mean castle or stronghold.
Does the routed army immediately take control of the territory and claim the victory point?
Or is it counted once the rout is removed in the clean up?
In our game this didn't make a difference as the 10th round was resolved and the defending player won by one point (they moved from a castle to a castle so had no effect on Victory points). However, if an army retreats from a non-castle into a castle territory it could give the defending player their seventh victory point. This would give them the game if counted immediately and prevent any other players from doing anything about it. This seems perverse as the defending player would have won by losing.
Thanks,
