Forgive me if this is in the rules or the forums, but my searching hasn't turned up anything. Does equipping a shield count as armor? I know there's no "armor" keyword on the shield cards, but they are hunks of metal you put between you and the bad guys. I ask becuase Nanok of the Blade loses his Heroic Ability if he equips armor, but as a Knight most of his skills revolve around a shield. So will handing him a shield cause him to lose his Ability?
Does a shield count as armor?
Sheilds do not count as Armor, no.
Chainmaille and the Plate Armor item cards would, but the shield does not - It doesn't add to your defense dice pool, so it's not armor.

Perfect. That's what I thought, but wanted to check before I broke that out at the table and the Overlord pitched a fit. Thanks for the fast response.

The definition of "Armor" per the rules is an item card that has the keyword "Armor" on it. Whether or not said item adds anything to your defense pool is beside the point.
You are correct that shields are not armor, however, this is because they do not have the "Armor" keyword.
