Deckbuilding/Number of copies of a card?

By krasch, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

The rules say:

• Your House deck must contain at least 60 cards, and may not contain more than three copies of a card

Is it the cardname or the exact card that matters in this situation?

Could I play with 3 x Grey Wind (the character) + 3 x Grey Wind (the attachment)?

Nope. It's by name of the card.

Edit: Of course, that doesn't stop you from running one copy of the Grey Wind attachment and 2 of the character, or vice versa.

I'd like to ask two question somewhat connected to this topic, answering them would be much appreciated ^^

1) Is it allowed to have 2 different characters going by the same name? For example, two copies of Joffrey from the Core Set and one from Lions of the Rock?

2) If yes, how do they work then, can they interact in any way? What I mean is, for example, can you place oneJoffrey under the other, different one and use it as his copy? I guess you can't put them both into play at the same time seperately, and you can't put the other if the first one died already?

Exactly as you said it. You can have different versions of the same card, but if they are unique, only one can be in play at any given time. If they are characters, they can die and go to the dead pile, preventing you from playing other copies of him, regardless of whether they are of the same version or not.

Thank you very much for a quick reply! ^^ Just to be 100% sure: I cannot put one Joffrey under the other Joffrey if it's only their name's that match, right?

oh, yes you can. you could run 3 different versions of Joffrey, and, as long as it's the same name card, whichever one you play first becomes your character. Any other copies can be placed underneath as duplicates.

And thank you too very much! Now I know all I needed for the time being, have a good night ^^
