I am starting a mini Campaign for Descent 2nd ed. It is made for the Vanilla game, however LoW can be used and applied to this campaign as it is to the original. The conversion kit can be used for open groups, as well, but the assigned monster groups will be Vanilla 2nd ed. This thread will serve to keep me motivated to continue, and keep updates on progress. Think of it as a Journal for now.
This is a prequel to the main Descent Campaign.
I call it a Mini campaign as it will feature a bit less Quests. The first Act is straight forward as it uncovers the story behind the Events in Carthridge. It will only be 4 quests. As we know, by the end of the story Baron Zachareth will be consumed by evil and joins the Overlord, but this campaign will help uncover the mystery of why the once kind hearted Baron of Carthridge has become corrupted by evil.
*Note: Until I place FINAL on the Quest I am looking for play testing. If anyone gives my quests a shot, I would greatly appreciate feedback on balance, design, and quality. I am striving to have my quests as balanced as possible so victories are the result of hard work. I will go ahead and thank you now, for any feedback that you may have.

Excerpt from the Commentaries of Necromancer Vorakesh
"… and yet after all my searching I cannot unveil this one Rune. The torment of knowing of it's existence but being unable to secure it's power is maddening. It feels as though the closer I get to it, the more I lose my sanity. I will have this power, it will be mine."

The last time you visited the Holding of Carthridge, it was for a Farmer's Festival in Hill Creek Pass. Once a small trading post stationed at a crossroads, it now serves as one of Carthridge's largest cities. Bustling with locals, travelling merchants, and adventurers - the city has become rich with wealth, culture, and information.
The annual Farmer's Festival that is held to celebrate Carthridge's bountiful harvests has always been Baron Zachareth's gesture to give back to his people. The most recent festival failed to see Baron Zachareth in attendance, and having never missed a Festival in his reign, this quickly struck worry in the holding.
Though quick to notify the public, the holding's guard were not convincing enough to make the people believe that the Baron's absence was due to matters of the Realm, for the Baron had become increasingly distant and isolated from the holding in the previous months.
He had also begun odd expeditions in the lands. Sending garrisons of town guards out for weeks at a time, searching in mines, caves, fields, and everything in between. Never disclosing what was being looked for, but to just simply look and notify if anything out of the ordinary was found.
The holding of Carthridge was beginning to suffer due to the negligence of their Baron. Word was quickly spread around Hill Creek Pass, and the transient population of the city quickly spread word outside of the holding.
This is how word spread to you.
You are back in Hill Creek Pass, and you overhear the pleas of a disgruntled and exhausted farm aid. Claiming that guards, ordered by the Baron, were told to seize the farmland, and perform excavations. They were unable to provide their usual amount of goods to the Inn due to the intrusion of the Baron's forces.
Interrupting the conversation between Farm Aid and the Inn Keeper, you find out that the Baron's forces have also evicted the Farm aid, and Farm owner from the land until they are done their excavation.
After being taken to the Farm owner, he explains that the area was being excavated for a stone. That is all he knew, and was visibly upset that his lively hood was being destroyed for a simple stone.
Unfortunately, you've gathered that this is a, seemingly, more common occurrence carried out by the Baron's orders.
With the information gathered from the Farmer, and the parchments of a vanquished mad man, you begin your journey to Foot Hills Farm.
